Thirteen things I love about my 13 year old

Feeling Relaxed

T

his is assuming that I can think of 13 things after being awakened @ 7:30 am to be told that it was 7:30 and he had missed the bus...on purpose?
  1. His sense of humor

  2. His intelligence

  3. The fact that he's really not that bad.

  4. "He's still shorter than I am."
  5. He's not on drugs.

  6. He's not having sex (I guess)

  7. He's still cute

  8. He's still shorter than I am. (for now)

  9. He can lift heavy things

  10. He takes out the garbage after I've told him 50,000 times

  11. I can still beat him on some video games

  12. He still falls asleep in the car (like when he was a baby)

  13. He tries to make me laugh

  14. He still talks to me about school (as long as it isn't about his grades)

Thursday 13 - 1/29/09

F

ollowing is a list of 13 bloggers who piss me off for various reason. For those of you who weren't aware, I am a closeted Hater. From the Urban Dictionary:

By closeted, I mean that you probably don't know that you piss me off, not that I'm gay (although there's nothing wrong with that). I decided to come clean today. :-)

Carol @ She Lives because she's funny. Every day. EVERY.DAY. If there's a post on her blog that isn't funny, I've forgotten it. I don't comment on her blog every day because I have nothing to add other than "That was funny!" which would only make me feel more like an unfunny loser. *sniffle*

Cardiogirl because she has those Chuck Taylor mood indicators. I love those! But if I suddenly had them on my blog, everyone would know I was all up on her jock, so I can't. *throwing Toddler Fit* AND because she finds something about which to write every day. ??? Do you know how long I have to sit here to think of a topic some days? WTF???

Russ Dale @ RAD because he's comfortable with his genius/insanity. I don't understand half of what he writes because he's too smart and the other half is just insane. For Example: Star Trek Barbies?? And he doesn't even care! Anyone who loves Biscuits, Gravy and Lard that much has a problem (and I don't mean clogged arteries).

Monique @ Blogging MoRe. Her blog is funny & the layout is very clean an enviable, but that's not why I hate her. I hate her because her handwriting is so neat, it's like frigging font. WHO WRITES THAT WAY? It's abnormal! She's a Stepford Writer. I don't know if this is actually her signature, but the font (writing) certainly looks like it. You're not supposed to be able to write on unlined paper without having your lines tilt up or down, for Cheesus Sake.

Blanca DeBree. She's so right wing that it's laughable. ;-) I don't know where she comes up with the stuff she writes. Who thinks like that?? Probably a lot of people. I hate her because even though I don't agree with her at all, I can't stop reading.

Stud Kickass because all he has to do is post a new cartoon every day. Something tells me he does cartoons in his spare time anyway, so how hard is it to post one on his blog?

The Offended Blogger. Another neat & clean layout. Another person who can be offensive/outrageous and funny. Another person who comes up with things to write about on a regular basis. I hate her for all of those reasons.

Ok, so that was only 7. Sue me.

Thirteen Complaints I currently have...

I

feel like there are 75,000 complaints I could come up with today, but I will restrain myself.

1. President Bush's speech screwed up my effing recordings last night. As soon as I realized that everything on the big 3 networks was 15 minutes late starting, I reprogrammed everything that I could. But I couldn't reprogram CSI: NY so I don't even know how it ended.

But last night was the first time he actually seemed "Presidential" to me. He almost had me convinced that America should spend $700 Billion to bail out banks that were making bad decisions.

Do we get a bailout when we make bad credit decisions? I don't know. I don't use credit cards because I don't like buying something without knowing that I have the money to cover it in my mother effing bank account. But that's just me...

2. I'm tired of freezing all day and burning up at night. I don't know WTF is wrong with me.

3. I need to sweep and mop the kitchen floor, I don't like mopping.

4. I don't feel like mopping because my back hurts.

5. I want some baked chicken but I have no chicken and I don't want to go to the store because that would require that I get dressed.

6. I don't want to get dressed for outside because I think I'd look pretty stupid wearing my big Michelin Man Coat when it's only 65° outside and not 30°.

7. My back hurts, did I say that?

8. My neck hurts.

9. I've gotten a grand total of maybe 10 minutes of sleep in the past 36 hours. I think I fell asleep briefly at 5:50 am, but woke up when Evan's alarm started going off at 6 and he didn't stop it until I started screaming. Which woke me up.

10. The damned ticker on my DVR hasn't updated in several days. Even though it reset itself last night, per usual Wed night behavior.

11. David Blaine's finale trick sucked. But that other stuff was cool.

12. Everything tastes weird.

13. I want some cheesy chicken & broccoli rice. But I have neither chicken nor broccoli. :-(

Thursday Thirteen - 5/22/08

F

or this Thursday 13, I thought I'd give you 13 of my favorite "Houseisms". :-)

  1. I had a heart attack this morning. I can't do any more drugs 'til at least lunch.

  2. A blowup doll would be more useful; and yes, that's the first time I've implied something negative about a blowup doll.

  3. You gonna trust me? I lie about everything.

  4. If I were kidding, I’d dress like you.

  5. Someone’s gonna be miserable sometime. Accept it. That’s how I stay so happy.

  6. People don’t learn; people don’t change. But you did. You’re a freak.

  7. Thing is, hope’s for sissies.

  8. You wanna know every place your mom’s thumb has been?

  9. Lies are like children: they’re hard work, but it’s worth it because the future depends on them.

  10. My eyes look better in rooms with summer colors.

  11. Does my breath smell bated to you?

  12. Oh God, I’m tired of hearing that argument. I don’t have to go to Detroit to know it smells.

  13. I’m a jerk to everyone. Best way to protect yourself from lawsuits.

30 Greatest Prince Songs EVER (IMO)

This is supposed to be a Thursday 13. But I really couldn't stop at 13. So this is my first ever Thursday 30, LOL. It's going in order of the play count on my i-tunes.

13 Things I don't "get"

There are things that I just don't understand, that I don't "get". This is a partial list of those things, LOL.

1. Fashion. I'll admit that it's mainly because I don't care about fashion. If I have a choice between spending hundreds of dollars on something that will only be "in" for one season, or spending hundreds of dollars on things that I can use & enjoy for the rest of my life, I'll pick the latter. But some of the things that become so popular...just look stupid to me. Or uncomfortable. I watch "Project Runway". Some of the shit those people come up with are outfits that I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. Or Oprah. I'm not even talking Haute Couture (which I REALLY don't get). I'm talking about the stuff that's supposed to be wearable.

2. People who can't cook. This is not cute. I understand if you don't have the desire to learn how to cook gourmet meals. But seriously, having to buy all of the food you eat already prepared? That's ridiculous. Everyone should know how to boil noodles & heat up spaghetti sauce at the very least. Boys need to learn to cook too. My mother made sure my brother knew how to cook. Now, he acts like he has no clue, but that's because he's lazy & he knows his wife will do it for him. This is one of the things that prepares you for life. You need to know how to take care of yourself. Feeding yourself is one of those things that everyone should know.

3. Obsession with celebrity. I've said this before. People have told me because it's a nice escape from their everyday life. I don't give a flying fart what Hugh Laurie is doing right this second. Or any other second that he's not working on "House, MD". I care about things that affect the show. I don't KNOW him personally. I'll only care about his personal life if he gets a divorce and moves to my town...

4. Parents who don't tell their kids about sex. Maybe if you talked to your kids about sex, we wouldn't have so many teenage pregnancies. Maybe we wouldn't have girls wearing those plastic bracelets proclaiming to the world what sex acts they are willing to perform. Maybe we wouldn't have news stories about teenagers having sex on the school bus or in the janitor's closet. Wake the fuck up! It's not how it was when YOU were a teen. You can't bury your head in the sand and just hope that your child will make the right decisions based on info they've heard from their friends.

5. Art. I admit that I am unphosisticated. I think I'm actually proud of it, LOL. I don't understand why people like to look at things that do not, in any way, resemble what they're supposed to represent. If it's a bird, it should look like a bird. If the title of the "objet d'art" is "Falling in love", it should have 2 people staring at each other lovingly, or a mother looking at her newborn baby, or something recognizable. Not just paint splatters on a canvas or a metal monstrosity.

6. People who can't/wont say "No". If you are not willing to stand up for yourself, no one else should. I'm not saying no one else will, because there always seems to be someone around to enable your spinelessness. Just not me. Being able to say "NO!" without feeling guilty or bad is a virtue, IMO. I'm not talking about your job, necessarily. Sometimes we have to do shit we don't like to pay our bills. I'm talking about your personal life. "No, I will not babysit your Bebe's Kids." "No, I will not let you live with me rent free while you 'find yourself'." "No, I will not give you a ride to the store. I don't even know you. Why the hell did you knock on my door in the first place?" (This has actually happened to me, LOL. What STRANGER asks to BORROW YOUR CAR or for a ride to the freaking liquor store having never in their life laid eyes on you before???)

7. How my son can destroy my perfectly clean house in 5 minutes. Seriously. I can vacuum, dust, put everything in it's proper place, and 5 minutes after he gets off the bus, the living room looks like I never did anything...

8. Why people seem to be getting dumber.
"Most people pronounce it corectly and now that it is German in orgin."

This is a direct quote from a message board. Spell check would have helped with this. A LOT. But clearly, the poster did not know the difference between "Know" and "Now." ???

Are we passing kids just to get them out into the workforce? HOW DO YOU GET THROUGH SCHOOL WITHOUT LEARNING ABOUT GRAMMAR & SPELLING? Aren't these elementary school subjects? I'm not talking quantum physics here. Just basic knowledge. Knowledge that my son has had for YEARS.

It seems like the gap between intelligence & idiocy is widening by the decade. Maybe it's because we only hear about the idiots? I don't know, but it makes me sad.

9. Why people can't say what the fuck they want to say. Why is it getting to the point where everyeffingthing is policed by the Politically Correct Squad? I say some shit that will be offensive to one group or another from time to time. But so what? You don't have to read this blog. You don't have to agree with me. Wouldn't you rather know how I feel than have to wonder about it?

I understand why you can't say "I'm going to kill that SOB." because that is a threat. You might actually go through with it. That's illegal.

But why can't people state their honest opinions about things without it being "bad"? Why does it feel like I can't have any unguarded moments anywhere at any time? When did we all become so hypersensitive? Why can't we all just GROW THE FUCK UP and realize that you will not agree with everyone all the time??? When did America become a nation of whiny punk bitches?

10. Why people do reality shows. I'm not talking about "Trading Spaces" or a show where you might actually benefit. I mean the shows like "Rock of Love" or "Bad Girls". The shows where you have to leave your inhibitions & common sense at the door. WHY would you go on national TV and show your ass (literally & figuratively)? Did you not SEE the show before you auditioned? Did those people look like people to be admired?

All I'm saying is that one day, you may have children. One day, you may get married. Do you want your children seeing you act this way? Would you want your potential life partner knowing you were a fucking idiot 20 years ago?

All I'm saying is that, after the show is over, you still have to go back out into society. You have to see your parents & friends & co-workers and answer for your actions.

What the hell is wrong with you???

11. The National Debt. Ok, I actually looked it up. I understand that better now, so nevermind, LOL. I went here. I wasn't thinking about Social Security or Savings Bonds or anything like that. I was just thinking "Who do we owe??"

12. Why some people care more about animals than people. I understand not liking people. Most of them get on my nerves. But if you gave me a choice between saving Oprah from a fire or saving ANY ANIMAL, I would save Oprah. I do not think animals are equal to humans. There, I said it. Animals are lower on the food chain than I. I will forever be more concerned about human rights than animal rights.

It's sick and twisted what some people do to animals. But I'd rather they do it to animals than another human being.

13. Tanorexia. Skin cancer & leather face, people.

Funny (to me) story:

Back when I worked in a very small office (with 3 other people), one of the women was a Tanorexic. One day, I told her to hold out her arm. Then I held mine up right beside hers.

She - OH! I didn't realize I was that dark!

HAAAAAAAAA! I think she laid off of the tanning bed for a minute. But when I saw her, years later, she was just as brown as she'd always been and looking way older than her age....

2 memes in one!!!

This weeks Thursday Challenge's theme is Anything. I also haven't done a Thursday 13 in a while. So, here are my 13 favorite pictures of Hugh Laurie.

It was very hard to pick just a few, LOL. I LOVE the pictures when he's wearing glasses, but I just chose my absolute favorite of those. I LOVE when he's smiling because, other than interviews, it's so rare to see that expression on his face. And I am in lust with all the "Mean Dr. House" face pictures too. *swoon*

I think, technically, they're supposed to be pictures I've personally taken for the Thursday Challenge. But I'm not being graded on or paid for this so whatever.

Thursday 13 - Black Facts

For some unknown reason, I've been getting a lot of hits on any of my pages that are about "Black Facts". So, in typical Traffic Whore fashion, I am doing a TT of Black Facts. I will be using this week's dates. (12/23 - 12/29)

On This Date in Black History:

1. 12/23/1863 - Robert Blake, powder boy aboard the USS Marbelhead, was the first Black awarded the Naval Medal of Honor "for conspicuous gallantry, extraordinary heroism, and intrepidity at the risk of his own life."

2. 12/23/1867 - Madame C.J. Walker, born Sarah Breedlove on this day, starts a Black hair-care business in Denver, CO; she alters curling irons that were popularized by the French to suit the texture of Black women's hair. She is arguably the first woman millionaire in the U.S. (Suck on that, Oprah!)

3. 12/24/1881 - Tennessee started modern segregation movement with Jim Crow railroad car and was followed by Florida (1887), Mississippi (1888), Texas (1889), Louisiana (1890), Alabama, Kentucky, Arkansas and Georgia (1891), South Carolina (1898), North Carolina (1899), Virginia (1900), Maryland (1904), Oklahoma (1907).

4. 12/24/1992 - The position of Secretary of Agriculture was awarded to Alphonso Michael "Mike" Espy, making him the first Black to hold this position.

5. 12/25/1760 - Jupiter Hammon, New York slave who was probably the first Black poet, published An Evening Thought: Salvation by Christ, with Penitential Cries.

6. 12/25/1837 - Charles Lenox Remond began his career as an antislavery agent. Remond was one of the first Blacks employed as a lecturer by the antislavery movement.

7. 12/26/1848 - William and Ellen Craft escaped from slavery in Georgia. Mrs. Craft impersonated a slave holder and her husband, William, assumed the role of her servant in one of the most dramatic of the slave escapes.

8. 12/26/1908 - Jackson Johnson defeated Tommy Burns in Sydney, Australia, for the heavyweight Championship. Burns will later say of his loss, "Race prejudice was rampant in my mind. The idea of a black man challenging me was beyond enduring. Hatred made me tense."

9. 12/27/1892 - Livingstone and Biddle College (now Johnson C. Smith) play the first African American intercollegiate football game.

10. 12/27/1939 - John Amos, actor, made famous in "Good Times" television program, born.

11. 12/28/1829 - Elizabeth "Mumbet" Freeman, dies. Born into slavery, she ran away form her owners after mistreatment by her master's wife. She petitioned successfully for her freedom, citing her knowledge of the Bill of Rights and the new constitution of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in her argument that all men were created equal, thereby justifying her petition for freedom, Her victory effectively abolished slavery in Massachusetts. Freeman was the great-grandmother of W.E.B. DuBois, one of America's most renowned scholars, leaders, and fighters for civil rights.

12. 12/28/1905 - Famed jazz musician and father of modern jazz piano, Earl "Fatha" Hines was born.

13. 12/29/1845 - Robert Weaver, born on this day, became the first Black appointed to a presidential cabinet when President Lyndon B. Johnson named him to head the newly created Department of Housing and Urban Development.

All facts come from Black Facts Online.

Thursday 11/15/07

3x Thursday

1. Would you describe yourself as impatient? Why/why not? Absolutely. I would describe myself that way because it's true.

2. In general, do you think you're a good worker? Why/why not? What are your strengths? I'm an awesome worker. I do my job to the best of my abilities which is, if I do say so myself, better than a lot of people's best. My strengths are strong organizational skills and perfectionism. I don't stop until it's perfect TO ME. I found that any employer I had had lower expectations for whatever it was than I did, LOL.

3. Do you think you're a good person? Why/why not? I have the ability to be a good person. LMAO! I've almost gotten over the guilt that I feel when I'm not "good". That's going to be my New Year's resolution...not feeling guilty when I cut some slow motherfucker off in traffic. ;-)

Thursday Thirteen

13 Strange Celebrity "Attractions"
If you've read this blog AT ALL in the past 12 months, you realize that I always have a celebrity crush. Some last longer than others. Some are more intense than others (Hugh Laurie is my current imaginary BF). And then there are some that I can't even explain myself. Sometimes it freaks me out, LOL. I become obsessed with finding out WHY I'm attracted to that particular person. Sometimes I never figure it out. These aren't exactly "crushes", though. I'm just attracted to them and they don't fit my usual "type".

1. Steven Tyler of Aerosmith - It's strange because he's so freaking skinny. And ugly. And he looks like he stinks.

2. Gerard Butler - It's strange because I don't think he's attractive. But when he played Attila he was incredibly sexy to me.

3. Joaquin Phoenix - Definitely not attractive to me. But he was sexy in Walk the Line.

4. Drew Carey - I don't know. Something about his big black nerdy glasses was cute to me, LOL. I always felt like he'd be fun to hang out with.

5. Ron Rifkin - Better known as Arvin Sloan on Alias. The short little effer was EVIL. But also kind of cute. :-)

6. Katt Williams - Short little Prince look alike. You might know him as Money Mike from Friday After Next. His voice is SO irritating. But he's funny as hell.

7. Mike Rowe - Dirty Jobs guy. It's not strange that I had a crush on him (back when he worked at QVC). He is "my type". But he looks like a Shar Pei.

8. Judi Dench - She's a woman.

9. David Letterman - Poor dude is...unfortunate looking, LOL! But I've been attracted to him since my early teens.

10. Ice Cube - Now he's HOTT! It's strange because he looks like my brother. Which is kind of gross when I think about it.

11. Andre 3000 - Good looking man. But he dresses so CRAZY and any time I've seen him in an interview I get the impression that he's a space cadet. I don't normally like stupid or spacey...

12. Gordon Ramsay - What???!!?!?!? OMG. I find myself searching for his name on the DVR (after looking for Hugh Laurie & Clint Eastwood) because I just feel an intense sexual attraction for him. And he's not handsome. And it pisses me off that I can like anyone that other women get moist over, LOL. WHAT is he DOING to us American women??

13. The Green Lantern - There was one series of some cartoon show...let me think...The Legion of Superheroes? I don't remember. But The Green Lantern was a black guy and I always thought that if he was a real man and not a cartoon he'd be fine as hell. It's strange because he's a geedee cartoon...

Last Day of School

So Thursday is officially the last day of school. It's only a half day, and you only have to be there if you're graduating from 8th grade.

So all week I've been telling Evan I was going to make him go to school on Thursday because I wasn't quite ready for school to be over. (And it does seem like it's gone by fast this school year. The good news is that they'll be going back August 8th.)

Anyway, after he came home from school, he immediately started asking if I was going to make him go to school today. I said "It depends on how bad you get on my nerves this evening."

But I knew I wasn't going to make him go. I'm sure he knew it too, LOL.

He made a list. It just happens to have 13 things on it.

So here's Evan's list for "Ultra Super Evan Jam Party Summer"

1. Procrastinate
2. Eat
3. Fart
4. Sleep
5. Use Bathroom
6. Irritate Mom a tiny bit less
7. Talk
8. Play Video Games
9. Spend the night with Nana
10. Dance Crazily
11. Talk Crazily
12. Drink soda & water
13. Have a great time!!!!

Honestly, the list isn't any different from weekends, LOL. Except I stopped him from spending the night with Nana when he came home sick TWICE and had to miss a few days of school. So I told him no more spending the night until after school is over so that if he gets sick, it won't matter.

He said he told all of his friends today that he's going to irritate me as much as he can before I run out of cigarettes and become "eviler". He's so sweet, isn't he?

I'm going to try to talk him into singing his song for me on youtube. Because "Ultra Super Evan Jam Party" has a theme song...

Thirteen Shows I'm looking forward to this summer

I don't know if they'll all be back on. I don't know if I'll like them all because I haven't seen all of them yet. They're in no particular order. And I don't know if there are 13 of them...

1. Tyler Perry's House of Payne
Premiers on June 5th on TBS. I love Tyler Perry. I just saw an ad for it today. I didn't know Madea was going to be in it. But that's probably just a guest spot. I hope it's good. Anyway, I took the quiz. I'm like Pops. :-)
Which House of Payne character are you? quiz on tbs.com

I see that that say's it's premiering 6/21. But the commercial I saw TODAY (from Chattanooga's TBS) said 6/5. Check your local listings.

2. Top Chef on Bravo. I love cooking shows. I get a lot of ideas from them. :-)
3. Hell's Kitchen. I don't know if it's coming back. I hope so. That BRITISH dude is such an ass! I'd go to jail if I were a contestant on that show. Gordon Ramsey, that's his name.
4. Nip/Tuck on FX
5. On the Lot on Fox. I'll watch it once to see if I think I'll like it.
6. Project Runway on Bravo. I have a love/hate relationship with the show. The judges ALWAYS keep the crazy guy on. I totally hated Santino in his season. I mean, his designs. His imitations of Tim Gunn were hilarious. :-)
7. So you think you can dance on Fox. I love it. From the auditions to the finale.
8. Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List on Bravo
9. Last Comic Standing on NBC
10. Doctor Who on Sci-Fi
11. The 4400 on USA
12. Dead Zone on USA
13. Monk on USA

As you can see, I'm not a Reality TV hater. I'm just a dating show, dancing with celebrities, extreme makeover (people or houses) hater. :-)

My 13 favorite episodes of House, MD

See that expression? He's embarrassed because I'm blogging about him again.

But I've been here for a couple of hours playing Cubis and I still can't think of a Thursday Thirteen Topic. I don't have 13 favorite flavors of ice cream. Or 13 favorite alcoholic drinks. It's music, movies, books and Hugh Laurie. I considered a "13 things that suck about being a mother" but The Boy hasn't hit puberty yet, so I don't even think I have 13 of those *gasp*.

Blah.

Here's the list.

1. Detox
2. 3 Stories
3. All In
4. The Honeymoon
5. Failure to Communicate
6. Distractions
7. House vs. God
8. No Reason
9. Meaning
10. Words & Deeds
11. One Day, One Room
12. Insensitive
13. Airborne

You can go to hughlaurie.net for episode synopsis iffn you really want to know what each episode is about.

I didn't include last night's episode because I can't remember the name of it and I don't feel like getting up to look at the info on the DVR.

I think I've watched "All In" more than any of the other episodes. "Three Stories" is Evan's favorite. "Failure to communicate" is probably my second most watched one.

One of the things I'm amazed by is the actor who's playing the reporter. He has aphasia (sp?) so he says stuff like "Why consign? I'm tabled." because his brain can't think of the word he wants, so it substitutes other words. He doesn't realize he's doing this. I think the acting is amazing. It has to be hard to deliver lines properly if they don't make sense. I wonder if he actually said the words as they were written or just substituted whatever he wanted because we (the viewers) wouldn't be able to tell anyway.

It's awesome.

I have favorite scenes in other episodes of House, but on this list I just put the 13 episodes I've watched the most.

I can't wait until Season 3 comes out on DVD. :-)

13 Things I'm going to get at Wal-mart

I'd have been at wal-mart already if Mommy Dearest hadn't stopped by to get her phone.

I didn't do anything but charge it.

HA!

She said "You're useless"
I said "Well now you have to read the manual and learn about your phone."
She - Well I'm not giving you the number, then.
Me - I won't answer the phone if I don't recognize the number.

She wanted me to look and see if Al Green had released a new CD. I looked at Amazon and I don't think I saw anything more recent than 2004.

She - I wish you'd stop scrolling so fast!
Me - Well you look then. I'm tired of seeing this shit released in the 20th century.

Later

She - How do I get a ringtone on my phone?
Me - Read the manual

Imagine me gleefully laughing now.

Anyway.

13 Songs I loved in the 80s

First I have to say that I'm not entirely sure these are all in the 80s, LOL. I'm listening to my 80s playlist right now. But if you're that anal about when the songs were released, you're on the wrong blog.

1. Sledgehammer - Peter Gabriel
2. Kyrie - Mr. Mister
3. Pour Some Sugar on Me - Def Leopard
4. Come on Eileen - Dexy's Midnight Runners
5. Let's Go All the Way - Sly Foxx
6. Jesse's Girl - Rick Springfield
7. Wishing Well - Terence Trent D'arby
8. Oh Sherry - Journey
9. I Think We're Alone Now - Tiffany (shut up)
10. Everything she wants - Wham!
11. I Like It - El Debarge
12. I'm Just a Gigolo - David Lee Roth
13. If you don't know me by now - Simply Red

It was hard to only pick 13. Maybe I should have done 113. ;-)

Thursday Thirteen - Cancelled TV Shows

This is a list of TV shows that I liked that have been cancelled. In no particular order.

  • Studio 60 - Starring Matthew Perry
  • Me and the boys - Starring Steve Harvey
  • Homefront - Starring Kyle Chandler and Mimi Kennedy
  • Dark Angel - Starring Jessica Alba
  • Dead Like Me - Starring Jasmine Guy and Mandy Patinkin
  • Any Day Now - Starring Annie Potts and Lorraine Toussaint
  • Angel - Starring David Boreanaz
  • Charmed - Starring Holly Marie Combs & Alyssa Milano
  • The X-files - Starring David Duchovny
  • John Doe - Starring Dominic Purcell
  • The Practice - Starring Dylan McDermott
  • Daybreak - Starring Taye Diggs
  • My So-Called Life - Starring Clare Danes

I really liked Studio 60. It makes me so mad that they (NBC in this case) would rather have game shows or idiotic reality shows instead of a SMART & funny dramedy show. It didn't get a fair chance.

I LOVED Homefront. It was cancelled in '91. They briefly showed it on one of those other networks, like Lifetime or something, but then they didn't even keep that up. :-( It was set in the 1940s, so there wasn't all the sex & violence that are on shows these days. It was sweet. :-)

Dead Like Me was on HBO, so I never saw it until it came on Sci-fi in syndication, but I think it's hilarious! I haven't seen it lately, so I hope Sci-fi brings it back.

Any Day Now was about 2 girls (one black & one white) who grew up as friends in the 50s or 60s. They showed the women as they were in present day, and then flashbacked to them as children. This is another show I didn't get into until I saw it in syndication. I think they had it on lifetime, but I haven't seen it lately.

Charmed was a big part of my Sunday Nights. Towards the end, they started repeating themselves, but it was still a good show. I was really into it when Julian McMahon was on there, LOL. Plus I can watch it in syndication on TNT. :-)

Angel is another show that had probably run it's course, but I still miss it. I loved the relationship between Angel & Spike. Again, I can watch it on TNT so it's all good. :-)

That is all. I'm too tired to get into each and every show.

    Thursday Thirteen

13 things I have said today.

I don't think I've said 13 things yet. Do posts count?

    1. Make sure you turn the water all the way off after you take a shower!

    2. Good God, you stink.

    3. What do you want to watch?

    4. Turn the TV off before you leave.

    5. Make sure you've turned off the air.

    6. Check and make sure the water is OFF. I pay for that water. (And it STILL wasn't all the way off?!?!?!)

I haven't said anything else yet, LOL.

    But here's what I predict.

    7. Check the mail.

    8. Do you have any homework?

    9. Don't take your shoes off, we're going to Wal-mart.

    10. Go see if they have a cart on the other side.

    11. Go get some skim milk.

    12. I don't have McDonald's money.

    13. Make sure you put ALL the frozen stuff in the freezer.
