Mohawk

I've been trying for years to get Evan to let me do a mohawk. This time I just did it & told him I'd shave it off after I took some pictures. I think it's cute with his curly hair.

I took some better pics with my camera, but this is it for now. And he shaved it off right after I took the picture, LOL.

Friday Memes

Five on Friday: Baby Talk

1. Are there any babies in your family or circle of friends? Not really. I think the youngest is 3 now.

2. Are you one of those people who use a high-pitched, sing-song voice when talking to babies and small children? Hell no. I speak to babies like they can understand me.

3. If you were standing in line next to a *very* pregnant stranger at the bank or grocery store, what would you say to her? Nothing. She's a stranger.

4. Similarly, what do you say or do near babies in public?
I smile at babies. If they smile back I might keep talking.

5. When walking through a department store, are you the sort of person who can go by the baby clothes without even a glance or do you have to stop to ooh and ahh?

Why the hell would I go there? I don't have any babies. I don't want any babies. I'm not getting anything from there. I don't like shopping for ME, I would not shop in a department just for the sake of looking.

Friday Fill-in

1. I think I'm hungry.
2. I desire a beef chimichanga.
3. What if I actually met Hugh Laurie.
4. The best thing about what??.
5. When will Evan start picking up his effing clothes without me reminding him 57,000,008 times?
6. The best thing that happened to me so far this week was the season premier of House MD.
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to Bionic Woman, tomorrow my plans include cleaning the bathroom and Sunday, I want to get to sleep at a normal hour!

Thursday Challenge

"REFLECTION" (Water, Mirror, Glass, Metal, Sunglasses, Buildings, Memories,...)

This is Evan in front of concave and convex mirrors.

Loaded Questions

Hypotheticals: If you could attend any awards show, which would you choose? I wouldn't want to attend an award show. I don't really even watch them. I taped the Emmy's to see if Hugh Laurie would win, but I fast forwarded until I got to his category. If I HAD to go to one, it would be the VMAs. Only because I might hear some good music. But probably not.

Anything Goes: What are you thankful you're not doing right now? Having surgery.

No-Brainers: What is your favorite kind of candy? Green Apple Jolly Ranchers

Personals: Who is the most famous person you have ever met? I don't think I've ever met a famous person. Evan has met and had his picture taken with the dude who played The Rock's brother in "Scorpion King". 2 years in a row this happened. On the annual Trail of Tears motorcycle ride.

Tuesday's TV Premiers

House MD

The long awaited and highly anticipated (for me, at least) premier of season 4 of House MD was last night.

I thought it was funny. Especially when Wilson kidnapped House's guitar. It was also kind of sad for House to be going all over the hospital trying to do the differential diagnosis with anyone and everyone. (Dr. Buffer the janitor???)

One of the funniest lines, IMO, was when House told a doctor that her eyes were not symmetrical and then said "And by eyes, I mean breasts."

I read in TV Guide that one of the applicants for the job will be a black Mormon. I can't wait for that! And Kumar (or Harold, I can't remember) is also going to be one of the applicants.

The Unit

The Unit also had it's season premier. I am NOT HAPPY that they changed the theme song. I want the old marching song "Fired up, Fired up, 27, Fired up!" Why would they change that? I listened to that theme song every week. Just like I listen to House MD's theme song, even when I'm watching it on DVD.

Jonas (Dennis Haysbert) looks good with a shaved head. Really good. Yummy good.

Anyway, it's hard to "review" the show without going into all the characters & what happened last season. The premier was good. I liked the way Molly passed messages to Hector. I do not like not knowing if Bob Brown is really on The Unit's side or if he's loyal to the CIA.

WTF happened with Mack? I don't like the way it seems like all these Unit members are giving up. Of course, we will find out more as the season goes on. And that's why I can't wait for next Tuesday.

If you aren't already watching "The Unit", you need to.

Cane

The series premier of Jimmy Smit's new show was last night. It looks like it's going to be a Sopranosesque show. Only with Cubans instead of Italians. (Who knew the sugar cane business was so dangerous?)

I'll give it a couple more weeks. New show, a lot of new characters to learn. It will take some time.

The show was good. I'll enjoy watching Nestor Carbonell, even if his character is an ass who is ruled by his libido.

That's all for me. What did you watch last night?

I LOVE my DVR

I've said it before.

Here's what I'm recording now that the new seasons are starting

Sunday: Desperate Housewives, Family Guy, Kimora: Life in the Fab Lane

Monday: Everybody Hates Chris, Prison Break (for Evan), Heroes, CSI Miami

Tuesday: Bones, House, The Unit, Cane, Tori & Dean Inn Love, Eureka

Wednesday: America's Next Top Model, Back to you, Til Death, Private Practice, Dirty Sexy Money (?), Kitchen Nightmares, CSI NY

Thursday: Survivor, Grey's, CSI, Tim Gunn's Guide to Style

Friday: Bionic Woman (on Sci Fi), Doctor Who, Dog Whisperer, Moonlight

Saturday: The only thing I have is Evan's cartoons, LOL.

I blame Fo at JJHF for getting me started watching ANTM. A lot of the peeps really. They talked about it all the time so I started watching it just to see who they were talking about.

But I started watching Tori & Dean and Tim Gunn on my own. I'm fascinated by Tim Gunn, LOL. I think JJHF peeps got me started on Project Runway too.

Anyway, half of these new shows that I'm watching probably won't last. (Raines & The Wedding Bells didn't last and they were good shows!)

We shall see.

Evan got his saxophone tonight!

Wheeeeeee! I'm so psyched. :-)

The music store guy suggested that the kids not play with their instruments tonight.

But, being me, I showed him how to grease his cork (Evan - That just sounds wrong.) and put the reed on. Then I said "Blow".

When I started on the clarinet, I used a 1 (hardness) reed. He's starting with a 2½. I told him that he might not be able to get any sound out of it. So of course he did.

I'll get some better pictures when I feel like it, LOL.

YAY! I already have my ear plugs for when he practices. :-)

I'm so excited!

This weekend

First, yes I saw Hugh Laurie on The Tonight Show this Friday. I thought he looked yummy & laughed like a schoolgirl because he was so funny.

See the interview for yourself (as long as it's up, there are probably some copyright infringement issues so it will be taken down.)

Part 1 & Part 2

Second, my air conditioner has been leaking onto my carpet. Which brings me to...

Third, I got a new landlord. I didn't even know the last one left. I think she lasted 6 months.

So I left a message for her (the old LL) on Friday. Today the new dude stopped by.

He claims that I will be getting a new air conditioning unit, a new water heater, new cabinets & some other new shit.

He said he's been pissed off looking at all the apartments & seeing how some people (like me) have been neglected.

I'm fine being neglected. As long as shit works & the landlord leaves me alone, I'm cool. I don't give a shit about new cabinets. Honestly, I don't want all those strangers in my apartment.

Whatever, all the landlords have promised me repairs that never happen. I planned on moving so I really didn't give a shit.

Anyway, after the new LL left, I changed some crap on my blog. Now I'm tired.

Goodnight!

The Image Meme

There's all kinds of stuff out there with my name. I always knew about The Angelika in New York. I didn't know there was one in Dallas too. I wonder how they pronounce it? Probably like Angelica. :-(

Anyway, I found a couple of models with my name too. But I'm not 5'10, white & Anorexic so I didn't include them, LOL.

I found this "meme" at Mother's Home. She said you could tag yourself. So I did because I'm avoiding housework. :-)

The Rules
1) Go to Google.
2) Click on Google images.
3) Type in your name and search.
4) Re post (w/ a link) the picture of the oddest, craziest, strangest, coolest, oldest, etc. person that shares your name. Post multiples if you find a few you like.
5) Pass it on to at least 5 other people.

I'm not tagging anyone. I hate that. So if you want to participate, leave a comment.

I love this commercial

When I first heard it I wasn't looking at the TV & I thought it was a real song and they were using it to promo a tv show.

The commercial is so short. But I found a longer version on youtube.

Thursday Memes

3x Thursday

1. Do you live near your immediate (like, your mom & dad, siblings, grandparents, etc) family? How close/far away are you?
Yes. 2 minutes by car.

2. If you don't live near your immediate family, how often do you get a chance to see them? If you do live near, how often do you see them? Whenever they come by.

3. Do you like having your family close/far away? Why/why not? Yes. For health reasons.

Thursday Challenge

This week's theme is: Purple

Blueberry Evan, purple flowers & Evan with Starr (RIP) and her purple ball.

Thursday Threesome

Onesome: "Details--are everything!", or so it is said. Are a a details person? ...or a big picture person? Depends on the situation. When I have a goal in mind, I am very detail oriented. If there's no goal, details really don't matter.

Twosome: Details-- (in the military definition) can be a royal pain: what routine detail at your job/school/home would you cheerfully off-load to someone else? Cleaning. Everything, LOL. I need a maid.

Threesome: Details-- and devils: what are you willing to work on nearly endlessly until you "get it right"?
Again, it depends on the situation. I worked nearly endlessly to get this blog header to show up in the right place. I still haven't found a "look" I'd want to keep indefinitely. But I haven't given up either. :-)

Dirty Girl - Bobby Light Feat Chunky Boys

I love Rob & Big on MTV. They need to do more episodes per season.

Anyway, I was watching the rerun last night and decided to look and see if youtube had the entire Bobby Light video.

Since the original video was removed for Copyright crap, here's a reenactment.

Blink

The best Dr Who episode we (Evan & I) have ever seen came on Sci-Fi Friday. We've watched it 6 times already.

It could have been made into a movie. I could totally see M. Night Shyamalan doing something like that.

You should check your local listings to see if it's going to repeat on Sci-Fi or come on PBS.

This one didn't have a lot of The Doctor or Martha (I wonder if that's why it was so good, LOL.)

It started with this girl, Sally Sparrow, going to an old house and taking pictures. While she was there, she saw writing on the wall behind some peeling wallpaper.

It said: "Beware the weeping angel. Oh, and duck. Really, duck..."

The previews for the episode were "Don't blink. Don't turn your back, don't look away, and DON'T BLINK."

It was a very intriguing promo. I couldn't wait to see it. I was just hoping that it didn't have anything to do with the effing Daleks. I hate the Dalek episodes.

I don't want to tell you the entire episode just in case you ever see it. You should try to see it.

Try to rent Dr Who Series 3 from Netflix or something (I don't know if they rent TV shows...I don't use Netflix).

I'd buy the DVD on November 6th if there weren't so many effing Dalek episodes this season. I think there've already been 3.

That's one thing I don't like about Dr Who. They bring back old enemies over and over and over and over.

I guess it makes sense. The Doctor is a time traveler. So it makes sense that he sees the same enemies all the time. It's just that the Daleks are sooooooo irritating. "Exterminate!"

I wish they'd be exterminated once and for all.

Anyway, check your local listings for the Dr Who episode titled "Blink".

And beware any weeping angel statues you see....

Muuuuuuuuuuuhahahahahahahha.

I got 3 hours of sleep last night

I planned to sleep after Evan got on the bus this morning. But I wasn't able to fall asleep.

So I vacuumed. I washed dishes. I'm marinating some meat for tomorrow (soy sauce, sesame oil & garlic) & froze some ribs in teriyaki sauce for some other time. Swept the floor. I was going to mop, felt like I was going to pass out. Decided to try to sleep again.

There isn't jack shit on TV during the day. I watched fucking Ellen & Tyra & part of "The View". Then I decided to watch the Kingdom Hospital marathon on Sci Fi.

Anyway, I had to go to the bathroom.

While I was up there, I cleaned the toilet & shit. (Not 'took a shit', cleaned shit...) and it was about 9 after the hour when I realized that it was still on the Sci Fi channel.

I knew I was recording 2 things at 2 EST, so the channel should have changed on its own.

I come downstairs & I don't have CBS. It's some latin channel????

It's finally CBS again.

That was crazy.

And I still can't sleep. :-(

I'll get sleepy after Evan gets home and starts talking a mile a minute about his school day.

*sigh*

Fucking Funny Extra!

On Season 2's DVDs, they did 2 Valley Girl takes from 2 different stories. They were fun. This is the Angry Valley Girl take from Season 3. I wish they'd have done more, LOL.

My favorite part is when Cameron is backing out of the office staring at Cuddy. :-)

Evan pisses me off

Today he wore long pants & a long sleeve shirt.

He says he couldn't find any clean shorts or short sleeve shirts.

So of course I went up to his room to look.

Problem #1: He does not put his clean clothes away like I tell him to every effing time we do the laundry. They're left up in the geedee basket to get wrinkled and/or misplaced.

Problem #2:
He does not separate winter & summer clothes in the closet or dresser like I've told him 1,000,587 times before like I've told him to. So all the shit is jumbled in the geedee closet which means that he can't just look at the left side of his closet and TELL AT A FUCKING GLANCE that he has more clothes to wear.

Problem #3:
He does not SEPARATE THE FUCKING CLOTHES the second he takes them off so that we don't have to separate the laundry on laundry day. Instead, it's in the bathroom, living room, his room, my room, the kitchen (????), under beds and other ridiculous places so that when we do the laundry we get ALL of his clothes clean.

I found 3 pairs of shorts & 5 short sleeve shirts in his room today.

He is currently going through the house, room by room, and getting all of his effing clothes so that we can do laundry this weekend.

BECAUSE he did this, he will spend the ENTIRE WEEKEND making his room spic & span and whatever else I can think of to punish him.

I'm so tired of this bullshit.

Why doesn't he just do what I tell him to do?????

So, when I broke the news to him how he will be spending his weekend, he started crying. Which pissed me off more.

Me - YOU ARE THE ONE WHO WORE WINTER CLOTHES TO SCHOOL TODAY WHEN IT'S 95 EFFING DEGREES OUTSIDE. WAS THAT NICE FOR YOU??? DID YOU ENJOY SWEATING ALL DAY? HAVE I NOT TOLD YOU TO SEPARATE YOUR GEEDEE CLOTHES WHEN YOU TAKE THEM OFF? HAVE I NOT TOLD YOU TO TELL ME IF YOU RUN OUT OF SHORTS OR SHORT SLEEVE SHIRTS????? DON'T CRY TO ME BECAUSE YOU DON'T LISTEN!! YOU BROUGHT THEM ON YOURSELF!

And to think, yesterday I was so proud of him for doing better in school this year and remembering to do little shit around the house that I've always had to tell him every flipping day.

OMG.

Then I see this bullshit.

I'm going to have a margarita.

Tuesday 9/4

Went to the bank.

Last month Evan told me he wanted to save his allowance so he'd have more money this time.

He was able to save it mainly because I told him he could NOT go look at the toys when we went to Wal-Mart. He did manage to find a video game & a watch that he wanted.

WHY he wants a new watch when the one he has works fine, I'll never know.

And Wal-Mart is pissing me off. They DO NOT have House Season 3 (it came out 8/21). If I go online & buy it, they'll have it next time I go. Fuckers.

Anyway

Tina's Tuesdays
Topic: Back to School

1. Did you ever attend college or university? Why or why not? Yes. U of A at Tuscaloosa. Because MommyDearest wouldn't let me go out of state.

2. What was your favourite subject throughout all your years in school?
English.

3. Do you jump on the bandwagon and go out buying the 'back 2 school' supply promotions that stores have at this time of the year? Yes. Because that's the only time we have tax free days (for clothes, computers & school supplies).
