American on Purpose

Feeling Abnormal

I

just finished reading American on Purpose, Craig Ferguson's autobiography.

American on Purpose by Craig FergusonI don't know what I was expecting, but the book wasn't what I had expected.

I laughed out loud a few times, I was horrified/shocked/interested a LOT, and I teared up a few times. Especially when he wrote about his mother's death, because I remember seeing him on TV when he did his first show after that.

OMG.

I'm not much into reading non-fiction. I have read the occasional book by a personality that interests me, but for the most part, I'm a fiction fan.

"Scottish by birth, American on purpose."

What I mean is that the only knowledge I have about alcoholics or addicts in general is what I've seen on Celebrity Rehab or the one or two episodes of "Intervention" that I've seen.

Craig kind of explains what it was like for him to be an alcoholic, from his very first drink to the last.

He said his 2 great loves in life have been alcohol and women.

The surprising thing (for me), is that even while reading about the stupid shit he did, I didn't feel judgemental.

He's smarter than I thought he was, and I already assumed that he was smart because I don't believe that truly funny people can be stupid.

I guess he's a bit more romantic that I would have thought? I don't know, that doesn't feel right. Maybe it's just the book making me think that?

Anyway, the book is a quick read and if you like @craigyferg at all, you should definitely read it. :-)

Craig Ferguson & Our Wigs

Feeling Normal

S

o, yesterday Mommy Dearest took me out for my Birthday Lunch. Finally. I didn't feel good on my birthday, then I had PMS, then I had headaches from Hell, then I got a cold.

So I finally felt like "going out" yesterday. I went over to her house because she didn't know how to save a program on her DVR until she deleted it...

Because she loves her some Al Green, she wanted to save his appearances on The Tonight Show or whatever and a couple of them had been deleted even though she had plenty of room and she would have gladly sacrificed something else if she didn't have room.

Did that make sense?

Anyway, while I was there she gave me a wig. Since I've taken the braids out of my hair, she usually sees me with a bandanna on my head because I'd rather cover my hair than do it. IOW, she was saying "I'm tired of looking at those damned bandannas and now you can cover your dookie braids with this wig!" (Learn more about Dookie Braids HERE.)

Anyway

Last night's episode of "The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" was on fire!
We went to the local "Dairy Bar" which is not to be mistaken for Dairy Queen. The Dairy Bar has been there since at least the 50s and is where we go for good, old fashioned Southern cooking. I had chicken fingers & fries. Sooooo good.

Blah.

Last night's episode of "The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" was on fire!

Billy ConnollyFirst, in the monologue he was talking about the time he wore a kilt with no underwear to the Playboy Mansion's Halloween party one year & how the gravity was killer. :-)

Then the actor Billy Connolly was on & told how his "castle" in Scotland is supposedly haunted by a headless dog. He told a joke like "You think walking your dog in the rain is hard, wait til you see what I have to do to this one when we get home." Because the dog can't lick his own "business", you see? The conversation was edited, so I can't imagine WTF they cut out!!!

George EadsThen, George Eads (Nick Stokes on CSI) was on & told how he broke his back and didn't realize it for 12 years. Or, when he broke his back, he was a poor actor with no health insurance so he never went to the doctor about his back pain & then they took x-rays last summer and the doctor noticed the "healed" broken back, so he ended up getting spinal fusion therapy. Unbelieveable!

I think that's all. :-)

Well, I tried again

Feeling Normal

T

o get one of my e-mails read on the Craig Ferguson show.

I need more crocodile!
Here it is:

Dear Craig,

The intro to last night's show with the crocodile puppet was awesome! You do a great southern accent. Most people who don't live in the south sound like idiots when they fake the accent.

I need more crocodile! :-)

If he reads it on air, it means he's stopped hating me for that crack I made about the Spanish Porn Star mustache that he had last year...

Coolio is back!

I

just want to know when the album comes out, because I've been thinking about this song every since I saw him on Craig Ferguson.

Thank you, Craig!

D

o any of you watch The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson?

Well, he was in reruns for 2 weeks. When he came back on Monday, he had a mustache.

I sent him an e-mail. Which he did not read on air (I think he hates me). When he was reading the e-mails on Tuesday, he said "That one's rude." Evan thinks that was mine...

All I said was

"Dear Craig,
Thank you for growing a mustache. Now my 12 year old thinks he's a man because he has more hair on his upper lip than you do."

That wasn't rude, was it?

Anyway, last night he came back on and he'd SHAVED IT OFF!!!!

Thank you so much, Craigypoo. You really looked like a Spanish Porn Star with that 'stache.

I tried to find some pictures of him with the thing that looked like he'd drunk some chocolate milk & forgotten to wipe his lip, but there were none. There are, however, several youtube clips of him with the quasi 'stache.

I'm so glad it's gone!

It's Father's Day?

O

h. Happy Father's Day, then. I lost my father 21 years ago, so I don't really think about it.

But I saw this on youtube last night. You know (if you read my blog regularly) that I have a crush on Craig Ferguson. I love his crazy antics. He truly cracks me up.

Anyway, I saw this and it made me tear up.

That is all.

I just sent an e-mail

T

o the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson.

I'll let you know if it ever gets used so you can be sure to set your DVRs for the rerun.

*fingers crossed*

I wonder how Scottish people say Angelica? That's what he'd probably say if he ever read it on the air...

Did you see my man on TV last night?

H

ugh Laurie was on Craig Ferguson last night. Did you watch? I told you to watch! I'm also pretty sure that I told you that Hugh seems more comfortable being interviewed by Craig than by Leno or others.

2 of my favorite accented Europeans on one show. *swoon* I've saved it. I'll watch it over & over until I get House Season 4 on DVD in September (presumably).

*sigh*

Hugh Laurie & other TV notes.

M

y imaginary BF is going to be on the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson tonight. WHEEEEEEEEEE! Watch it.

Dexter's season finale last night was AWESOME! Does anyone know how many seasons of that show that there have been? I think I might buy Season 1 on DVD. It would be nice if they played Season 2 on CBS next year, but I don't know...

I'm also going to buy George Lopez "Why you crying?" on DVD. I've seen it several times, but I LOVE IT. I recorded it Saturday night & watched it again. I also recorded his new one "America's Mexican" (or whatever) last night but I haven't been able to watch it yet. I was WORN OUT from all of yesterday's activity.

This week's Song of the Week is "La Raza" by Kid Frost. First, because he's Mexican and G Lo kept talking about la raza Saturday night (See? It makes sense when you connect the dots) and second, when my mother's other daughter was still my sister, she was best friends with Kid's sister (so she knew him too) when we lived in New Mexico. So it's a little shout out to one of my old "razas". Where I had my first BFs. The "older man" who was about 6'4" and used to let me stand on his feet while he walked me home (I was 4) and the one who brought me candy on Valentine's Day and I said thanks and slammed the door in his face (We were in Pre-K together.). :-)

That is all. I must go watch the crap I slept through last night, LOL.

Craig Ferguson @ the White House Correspondent's Dinner

I thought he did a good job. Of course, I've never watched one of these before so I have nothing against which to compare it...

Testing out my new Firefox Add-on

Crop from Image:Emmys-laurie.Image via WikipediaYesterday, Hugh Laurie was on The Tonight Show. He talked about what he did during the writer's strike (nothing), his new movie "Street Kings" and some other crap.

It wasn't as good as some of the interviews I've seen him give to Jay, but I look forward to his appearance next week on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. I love them both. Hugh always seems more relaxed when he's talking to Craig.

Speaking of Craig, he's hosting the White House Correspondent's Dinner tonight. It's supposed to be on C-Span. It's not on the program guide, but I'm taping C-Span from 8-11pm in hopes of catching it.

Ok.

The new add-on is Zemanta. While you're typing, it finds relevant links & photos for you to include in your post. Then you can click "Apply All" (or whatever) and you don't have to do any of the formatting yourself.

It's all right. I mean, I enjoy not having to look up all the sites and then manually link to them (including target=_blank), but a) I can think of other Hugh Laurie pics I'd rather have & b) I wouldn't send everybody to imdb.com for every fricking link (except the one that's pointing to Wikipedia...)

I can't see using this very often... I suppose we shall see.
