Song of the Week - 8/12/08

T

his week's song is "Ain't Love Strange" by Paul Thorn.

Because I realized I hadn't changed the Song of the Week since "I kissed a girl" and I'm tired of kissing girls. Listen & enjoy! :-)

Song of the Week - 8/4/08

T

his week's song is "I Kissed a Girl" by Katy Perry.

I love her voice. I love the song.

Evan thinks I'm gay now...*rolling eyes*

He should know that if I were "suddenly gay", the first thing I would do would be to drive to MD's house & tell her to see if she has a heart attack.

Probably not.

She's too evil to die.

You can see the video HERE.

Anyway, thoughts and prayers go out to Morgan Freeman (he was in a car accident) and Bernie Mac (Pneumonia).

I luff both of them. I want them to get well & continue making great movies (and cracking me the fark up, in Mac's case). :-)

Song of the Week - 7/14/08

T

his week's song is "I know" by Dionne Farris. She used to be in Arrested Development. Remember them?

Anyway, there's no special significance to the song. I just like it. :-)

This is a live version of the song because the person who uploaded the actual video disabled embedding... But this isn't bad. She's much better live than a lot of people (Mary J. Blige).

Song of the Week - 7/7/08

T

his week's song is "Let the bodies hit the floor" by Drowning Pool.

Because I'm PMSing. (Read: Pissed the EFF OFF about everything.)

I have decided that since I can't afford the Anti-depressant that I really LOVE and the one that I'm on still has me feeling like I'm in a constant state of pissosity (even before the PMS) that I will call the Dr and get it doubled.

I've had a stronger dose before. So it shouldn't be a problem.

*sigh*

Fucking hormones.

God is definitely a man. And He hates women. Or he would have made MEN bleed from their penis every month for 5 days. And feel bloated. And have lower back pain.

*cries*

Song of the Week - 6/8/08

T

his week's song is Fuego by Pitbull. I heard it last season on "So you think you can dance". For some reason, I've been listening to it over and over all weekend.

That is all! Enjoy. :-)

Song of the Week - 5/26/08

T

his week's song is a song that brings back memories.

Not good memories.

But I still like the song "Pour Some Sugar on Me" by Def Leppard.

When I first moved here (here being the south), I was 15 years old. I got my first crush at my new high school. A white boy who shall remain nameless. I don't remember if I wrote him a note telling him that I liked him, or told one of his friends to tell him.

I do remember that he sent me a note saying that he liked me as a friend, but he didn't like me "that way". But his black friend did.

...

That was when I first thought "Oh, so it's going to be like that down here? I'm only allowed to like black guys?"

HA!

Whatever.

The reason I remember this song in association with that boy is because he told us (a group of girls) that he liked girls who looked like a particular girl in the video.

I'm not bitter, though.

I mean, I hope he's gotten fat and bald, but I hope he's still alive and happens across this blog and remembers how he rejected me.

:-)

T

his week's song is "Keep Your Hands to Yourself" by Georgia Satellites. No particular significance, I just love the song. :-)

Song of the Week - Simply Beautiful

B

y Al Green. It's one of the few Al Green songs that I listen to voluntarily.

I guess it's an ode to MD on Mother's Day. :-)

Enjoy!

Hugh Laurie & other TV notes.

M

y imaginary BF is going to be on the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson tonight. WHEEEEEEEEEE! Watch it.

Dexter's season finale last night was AWESOME! Does anyone know how many seasons of that show that there have been? I think I might buy Season 1 on DVD. It would be nice if they played Season 2 on CBS next year, but I don't know...

I'm also going to buy George Lopez "Why you crying?" on DVD. I've seen it several times, but I LOVE IT. I recorded it Saturday night & watched it again. I also recorded his new one "America's Mexican" (or whatever) last night but I haven't been able to watch it yet. I was WORN OUT from all of yesterday's activity.

This week's Song of the Week is "La Raza" by Kid Frost. First, because he's Mexican and G Lo kept talking about la raza Saturday night (See? It makes sense when you connect the dots) and second, when my mother's other daughter was still my sister, she was best friends with Kid's sister (so she knew him too) when we lived in New Mexico. So it's a little shout out to one of my old "razas". Where I had my first BFs. The "older man" who was about 6'4" and used to let me stand on his feet while he walked me home (I was 4) and the one who brought me candy on Valentine's Day and I said thanks and slammed the door in his face (We were in Pre-K together.). :-)

That is all. I must go watch the crap I slept through last night, LOL.

Song of the Week - Moonlight Serenade

I

thought it was time for something different for the song of the week. No rap/hip hop, no 80s, just something totally unexpected, LOL.

I picked Moonlight Serenade because every time I heard it (usually in Stephen King movies), I said "I like that song" but I'd forget to try & find out who it was.

The last time I heard it, I think it was on that Room ??? movie with John Cusack & Samuel L. Jackson. We had the captions on. Evan told me the name of it. So I looked it up online & finally found out. YAY!

After I finish watching all the crap I taped last night (and watching Craig Ferguson on The View), I'll tell you about yesterday. :-)

Things that make you go hmmm...

I had forgotten all about the Song of the Week until I realized 2 new ways to make Mommy Dearest leave faster without being a bitch:

1. Tell her I'm on my period.
2. Lay down, put my ear plugs in & pretend I'm going to sleep.

These things work because she always assumes that when I'm on my period I'm going to be extra "mean" to her and she knows how much trouble I had last year trying to sleep so she doesn't want to wake me up.

HA!

Too bad I can only use excuse #1 once a month, LOL.

The Dance Electric

This week's song is "The Dance Electric" by André Cymone (with background vocals & probably some instrumentation by Prince.)

I think it's from 1985. (Does it really matter?)

Anyway, the other day Evan was being nosy looking for something that fell behind the TV & found some of my old 45s beside the record player. One of them was "The Dance Electric".

Enjoy. :-)

LMAO!

I don't remember who told me about

my comments (on the post pages) being cut off. Today's the first time I noticed it. The situation has been rectified.

Thank you for letting me know! :-)

This week's song is "Are you that somebody?" by Aaliyah. It was one of my favorite songs when it came out & it's still one of my favorite songs today.

Groove is in the heart

New song of the week!

My computer has been acting retarded all day. I assume it's a network problem. Some sites work, some don't.

Pfeh!

Enjoy the song. :-)

Come on Eileen

I'm apparently in an 80s mood this month. This week's song is "Come on Eileen" by Dexy's Midnight Runners. Enjoy! :-)

Song of the Week - Sweet Dreams

I love 80s music! I am a child of the 80s. They were totally tubular times, dudes & dudettes!

Song of the Week - Rebirth of Slick

I don't know if you noticed, but I added a "Song of the Week" to my blog.

It's up at the top of my left sidebar.

I got the idea from Skittles. :-)

So now you can hear some of the songs I listen to while you're reading my blog.

The best part, it doesn't play until YOU press play. (YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!)

That's all. I have a headache...
