Please go in, Baby. It would make Tater so happy.

T

his is what I heard the other day when "Tater" was here painting the drywall where the new cabinet is supposed to go up.

Tater has a real name. He told me once, but I forgot. So I asked him again and he said "Tater".

Tater didn't stink like others ('handy men') that have been in here. Which was nice.

His talking to himself was quite amusing.

He was replacing the plug (that was still working) in the wall where the new cabinet will be.

Apparently, whomever wired my apartment in the first place (50 years ago) didn't know what they were doing either. There are supposed to be 4 wires or something. Or maybe 3. But I do know that there was one live wire that they just wrapped around METAL at the bottom of the actual plug.

So every time I plugged in the George Foreman, I was risking electrocution without knowing it.

Since my hall light (going up stairs) stopped working a couple of months ago, I asked Tater to fix that one too.

He couldn't.

So the gist is that the lights in my kitchen don't work. No idea why.
The hall light set off sparks a couple of times and it still doesn't work. It's now hanging out of the wall with electrical tape covering the exposed live wire.

An ACUTAL ELECTRICIAN is supposed to be here next week (we'll see) and fix all of my outlets that don't work.

I'd be pissed if I hadn't enjoyed listening to Tater talk to himself so much, LOL.

And Tater is loaning Evan some Star Wars DVDs that he has that aren't the usual.

Whatever...

Guess what.

I

woke up this morning and there was a flood in my kitchen.

Yeah.

The pipe(s) that Roto Rooter had 'fixed' were dripping like they had 100 holes poked in them overnight.

It had leaked so bad that half of my floor is wet.

This is worse than before they ever 'fixed' it.

So I called the landlord at 8 am. I think I woke him up. He's pissed. (GOOD! At least someone other than me is pissed for a change!) All I know is he carried the new cabinet out talking to himself about the 90 day warranty on their work and saying "They'd better be here this morning!"

Pfeh.

They'll be here when they get here and there's nothing I can do about it so I refuse to get worked up about it again.

In other news, we're (my extended family) supposed to have a yard sale tomorrow. So I'll be (hopefully) getting rid of a lot of books, CDs, DVDs & various other crap that I don't use anymore.

:-)

Unless it rains.

60% chance of rain according to the news ticker on my DVR. *sigh*

But I'm packing up all the crap & putting it in the trunk of my car so I'll be ready tomorrow regardless. If it isn't this Saturday, it will be next Saturday.

Ta!

**Update** They got here at 10:30! Not too bad. They claim it's fixed now. The last time they were here, they had to replace about a 3 foot section of copper pipe because it had corroded. Their welds were leaking.

I hope that's all with the effing leaking!

Re: Yard sale. It's raining now. Heavily. The weather ticker has been updated to 80% chance of rain tomorrow.

Good.

Because I have to wash all of Evan's too small clothes to be able to sell them in good conscience and I really didn't want to do that today, LOL.

My Day Yersterdee - 6/11/08

A

s you know, I was pissed off at 10:20 am. Then I called MD at 10:30 to see if she'd gotten a call from my doctor because I had some blood tests run last week and the results were supposed to be in Tuesday. She hadn't, but she told me she was going to grill later in the day (Noon) so if I wanted to grill something, bring it over.

So Evan and I went to the store & bought a pork butt, kielbasa sausage, a whole chicken & some hot dogs.

At the store, I told Evan to ask the butcher to cut the butt & the chicken in half while I looked to see if they had anything else I wanted.

Evan - Can you cut this (roast) in half?
Butcher - In half?
Evan - Yes. And this chicken.
Butcher - Chicken?
Evan - Yes, can you cut the chicken in half too?
Butcher - In half?
Evan - Yes. Cut them both IN HALF.

That butcher was precious. (Our nice "southern" way of saying that someone is a plum idjit.)

Anyway, after I got to MD's house, I realized that the butt halves would take for freaking ever so I cut one of them in half. I seasoned one butt & one chicken half with BBQ rub, I seasoned the other halves with regular salt, pepper & garlic.

MD had some country pork ribs & hamburgers. She decided to try turkey burgers too.

Evan had been wanting to try liver. Since I think it's disgusting, I would not buy any liver of any type. But there were chicken livers & gizzards in the chicken bag (along with a neck) so I grilled them up for him. He didn't like them, LOL.

Yesterday was a nice day. I think it was only about 85 degrees and we had a nice breeze. However, since 1) I make her nervous when I stand by the grill because she thinks I'll fall into it and 2) I had taken a Benadryl (for allergies) and a xanax (to deal with MD) before we went over there, I really was feeling a little drunk, she & I took turns flipping the crap on the grill.

It's odd that after I had been wanting pork butt for a looooooong time, the only thing I ended up eating was the Kielbasa on a bun.

By the time we left at 5:30, my entire back felt like one big muscle cramp. I was hot as hell, and the xanax was definitely wearing off.

When I got home, however, I decided to clean the blinds that cover the back door. I get in moods when something finally bugs me so much that I just have to clean it no matter how tired or in pain I am. So I took them all down, put them in the sink with some Mr. Clean with Febreze & washed them.

You know how after years of living in a place, stuff gets dingy with age or whatever. That new WHITE refrigerator is inspiring me to make everything as white as it used to be. The landlord had offered to paint, but I have bookshelves, pictures & so much crap to move for that to be able to happen, it would be like moving. Screw that.

I have been using ammonia for some things & Mr. Clean for other things. It smells so good.

Anyway, after Evan had put all the blinds back up, he went to use the bathroom.

They (Roto Rooter) had come while we were at MDs!!!!!!!!!! So all my plumbing is finally done.

YAY!

BTW, MD has a freaking Dyson. I keep trying to get her to get the one with the ball, so she can go around corners & whatnot. She will NOT budge on buying it. She also has 4 OTHER VACUUMS Yes. She has one for each area of her house so that she doesn't have to move them... The Dyson is only for the family room, apparently. Anyway, after months of me complaining that my vacuum doesn't suck, she gave me a new one. Old to her, but since she's had it, she hasn't even put an inch of stuff in the vacuum bag. Both of the filters on it look unused. She makes me so sick, LOL.

But I'm taking the day off. I'll let you know how my new vacuum cleaner works some other day. I've done enough cleaning for the year!!!!!!!!!!

Now, I'm not exactly happy (they still have to funk up my house when they come in to give me the new cabinets, kitchen sink & stove) but I'm much less pissed that I have been for the past 2 weeks.

Do I seem happy?

B

ecause I'm not.

They were supposed to fix the leak in the tub/sink/toilet/whatever this weekend. No shows. So, the landlord came over Saturday to tell me that they'd be here first thing Monday morning. They got here at 5:30 pm on Tuesday. Said they'd return first thing this morning.

It's 10:20.

No one.

Fuckers.

Will I EVER get the leak fixed?

Will I EVER be able to get through the day without smelling the sour sweat & cigar/cigarette smoke of "handy men"?

Will I LOSE MY FARKING MIND?

I'm gonna blow this fucking place up.

HA!

Not really.

But that's how pissed I am. I want everyone to suffer with me.

Good thing I don't own a rifle...

My Day Yesterday - Friday 6/6/08

Y

esterday the landlord was supposed to come by and finally fix the leak in the bathroom toilet. He finally figured out that it's one of the pipes in the tub that's leaking, so he was supposed to come back today to fix that. And no, I still have no pipes in my sink which means that we have to take showers & brush our teeth in the bathtub which continues to soak through the new drywall.

Anyway, we always use that back door since I park right outside my sliding glass door for the days when my back hurts really bad or I'm not walking very well or it's raining, whatever. Just 2 steps and I'm at my car door.

Evan noticed a wasp's nest when he went outside earlier in the day to roll down the car windows. I had called MD to tell her that we were coming over because I could NOT deal with anymore banging or drilling. But first I decided to knock down the wasp's nest.

I got a big stick & knocked it down, then walked as fast as I could (read: as fast as a 97 year old woman who should be using a cane but isn't because of pride) since the fuckers started chasing me.

One of them stung me. Fine.

But I noticed that a few of the wasps were hanging around like they were going to build a new nest. So I decided to go to Wal Mart to get some Wasp & Hornet Killer.

I took 2 Benadryl pills & went to Wal Mart. In the store, I noticed that 1) the entire left side of my body was itching and 2) weird welts were popping up on my neck & other places. The actual wasp bite was red and hot to the touch and about 3 inches in diameter in the 13 minutes it took me to drive to the store.

So I called my dr. Went right to his office after I bought some ammonia (because the thing they sold called "sting eez" was $3.50 for 1/2 an ounce (the only ingredient was ammonia). I figured I'd get a gallon for 97 cents and use it for other things including taking the sting out of my bite.

At the doctor's office, I got a shot in the butt.

Evan - You can squeeze my hand if it hurts.
Me - Aw, thank you, baby. But I can't hold your hand and stand up steady at the same time.

*after the shot*

Evan - You took that like a real trooper, you didn't even cry.

HA! Isn't he cute?

Anyway, I asked for more samples of the anti depressant that I LOVED, but he didn't have any more so he gave me a prescription. I also got a prescription for Attarax which is like Benadryl times 10. Whenever I have a severe allergic reaction to something, I get that. It's better than Xanax because it knocks me out for 12 hours, LOL.

Got to the pharmacy, the antidepressant was $60 WITH INSURANCE so I told them to call the doctor & change my prescription to Celexa (which I've taken before, but makes me gain weight so I don't like it) which is only $6 plus the $4 Attarax.

Took Evan to McDonald's. Got home about 3:30. Called MD to tell her what had happened.

MD - YOU COULD HAVE CALLED ME SOONER TO TELL ME YOU WEREN'T COMING OVER! I'VE BEEN WAITING ALL DAY.
Me - Well I got stung by a wasp & had to go to the dr and the pharmacy and I didn't know that it would take that long.
MD - You still should have called.
Me - Well pardon me for being more concerned with my throat closing up than calling you to let you know that we weren't coming over right away! *click*

So I called her this morning to ask if she'd seen Al Green on David Letterman. Her DVR cut off early. I told her that I had saved it over here so she could come and see her man if she wanted to see the whole performance. She did. So I reckon we're all right.

That is all. Evan wants me to play Mario Cart. I drive and he comments. Like it's a damned Nascar race. Very irritating, but if it makes him forget that I was going to make some brownies from scratch today, then I'll do it. :-)

Nothing to say

E

xcept the new toilet is leaking. Or one of the pipes. No idea.

The new cabinet has been taken down along with a cabinet sized section of the freaking wall.

*sigh*

I am SO TIRED of cleaning up construction shit & brushing my teeth in the tub & having my microwave on the dining room table.

I guess I'm too impatient.

B

ecause it's only been 3 days since they started giving me a new bathroom.

When they were just supposed to replace one cabinet in the kitchen...

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad that they're doing it. I like my new commode. It will be irritating to clean, but it's prettier, LOL.

The thing is that years ago when my toilet was leaking, (with the old landlord) they came & fixed it & put down a new floor.

What I didn't know is that they hadn't ripped up the old, water damaged, saggy floor & beams. And one of the pipes in the wall was leaking too, but I couldn't see or hear it when I flushed the toilet.

So when my landlord came to replace the cabinet (that was water damaged from the toilet's leaking) he saw saggy floor, warped beams & realized that he needed to put in a whole new floor and new beams before I fell through the floor.

Cool.

It was on Thursday that the maintenance man finally finished putting in the floor & toilet & vanity. But he didn't get the toilet hooked up and usable until 11 pm.

That pissed me off.

So he came back Friday.

He put up the new cabinet (smaller than the old cabinet), but still no water in the sink.

I DO NOT LIKE BRUSHING MY FUCKING TEETH IN THE FUCKING TUB OR THE KITCHEN SINK.

I've been in a bad mood since Thursday.

WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY does it always take them so long to fix anything?!?!?!? They (workmen, landlord) keep coming in my fucking house so I have to keep the air turned down lower than usual or it would be on all effing day. (Thursday I had gone to MD's house to use the bathroom & when I came back, lights were on, doors were wide open, windows were up, air was on, and no one was here???

For like an hour after I got home.

WHAT THE HELL?

OMG.

Evan asked me if I had PMS.

Poor kid. I don't mean to take it out on him, but I'm SO FRUSTRATED!

I do not like having strangers in my house in the first place. Especially not fuckers who track dead grass & mud all over my carpet. Especially men who take my geedee curtains down, open the bathroom window & then leave for the day without having finished their job but leaving their tools & cigarette butts in my new commode.

I swear to God, one of these days I won't be able to be patient with these fucking idiots anymore.

I HATE THIS SHIT!

No new stove...yet

B

ut I am getting a new bathroom as I type.

OMG.

I might have to go to MD's house if this noise keeps up.

Comment

I was going to record the drilling. It sounds like...I don't even know how to describe it. But it feels like the whole house is shaking. It's like an airplane is taking off. Yeah, that's it.

Anyway, I was supposed to get a new stove on Monday, but someone in another apartment set their kitchen on fire, so they had to give that whore the new stove.

Today he was supposed to replace the one cabinet and maybe the kitchen sink. But when he ripped off the cabinet, he saw enough water damage from the years that the toilet leaked (without my knowledge, it leaked into the wall) that he felt a new bathroom floor was a more emergent need. I agree. I don't want to be sitting on the terlet and fall through the floor.

Can you imagine that 911 call:

911 - May I help you?
Evan - My mommy fell through the bathroom floor from upstairs and landed in the kitchen sink!
Me - *Screaming from the kitchen* I told you NOT to call 911 until you'd wiped my ass and pulled up my panties! I don't want strangers looking at my vajayjay!!!
911 - Is she conscious?
Me - *still screaming* Don't give the address until I'm covered from the waist down! Get me a Lortab, my back is killing me!!
Evan - Yes. She doesn't want me to tell you where we live until she has on some panties. But I'm not wiping her butt. That's gross.
Me - I wiped your butt for years, boy! You can wipe my ass once!

:-)

Of course the bastard won't drill now. But I did see him carrying out my old bathroom floor. It's really not that old. I do wonder what the new linoleum & vanity will look like, though...

Wheeeee! He did it!

Comment

The drilling is upstairs. Evan keeps running downstairs to tell me how strange it all looks, LOL.

The end.

I got a new Frigidaire!

I

called the landlord Friday (the one who calls me "Sweetie") and told him that my refrigerator wouldn't close all the way.

He came over. Looked at the Fridge.

LL - How long have you lived here?
Me - 17 years.
LL - Well I have to go to Sometown today & I'll pick up a new fridge for you and bring it by this evening.
Me - Ok!

There was nothing wrong with the fridge other than we couldn't get it to stay closed all the way...

Whatever.

When he came back he told me that I'm getting a new oven on Monday.

WHEEEEEEEEEEEE!

That is all. :-)

Yesterday - 2/16/08

Was an interesting day.

First, it started with another crazy ass dream.

We were at Mommy Dearest's house. (We being me, MD, my niece & MD's Other Daughter.) MOD got pissed at MD for something. So she picked up the monitor of the computer & threw it on the floor. Then she threw the PC tower on the floor.

Me - You owe me $500, bitch! That was MY computer, not your mother's!!

So next thing I know, she's trying to put the damned PC back together. Whatever was on the monitor looked like some insane Matrix shit.

Then MD & I are in the car.

Me - I don't care if she does manage to fix it, I want a new computer. And I'm suing the bitch if I don't get it!
MD - Angelika...
Me - NO! I don't care! You ALWAYS take her side even when you KNOW she's wrong. I'm sick of this shit.

I don't remember what else, but I woke up when someone knocked on my door.

Remember when I told you I was getting a new kitchen? And then it took them 4 days to replace my water heater & give me hot water?

That was a couple of months ago.

So yesterday, they replaced my door. This new one is metal. The old one was wood. It needed replacing.

Get this.

Allegedly, they are going to replace 1 (one) cabinet in my kitchen this week.

Only one.

Then next month, allegedly, they're going to replace the sink & the other cabinets.

I will believe it when I see it.

The thing is, the new cabinets are white.

All my other cabinets have that fake wood paneling or whatever...

So...yeah.

One white cabinet. Probably for weeks.

Anyway, I was in a bad effing mood the rest of the day. Had to go to Wal-mart to get new keys made.

OH! I forgot the best part.

You know the coving? or molding or whatever that goes on the outside of the door on the wall?

There is none of that. Just wall, blank space, door. The new screen door looks too short for the space. There's like 1/4 an inch above and below. So in the summer, lots of hot air will get in. In the winter, lots of cold air will get in.

Whooooooo hoooooooo.

I'm so excited.

Every.single.landlord I've had (I think this is the 4th one) hires friends to do the labor here because it's cheaper than a professional. You get what you pay for.

Fuckers.

I stay here because the neighborhood is good & it's cheap. Other people live in apartments that are the size of my living room and pay $600/month.

Fuck THAT.

My only other option would be to move to the geedee projects and have cement walls.

Fuck that too.

So I stay in my dump....

At least it's "mine", LOL. I've been here 15 years. That's a lot of accumulated shit, you know? I so don't want to pack & unpack all of my crap...

That is all.

Random Crap

Just in case you were wondering, I sort of have hot water.

Apparently, the thermostat on the second new water heater is broken. Or the element. Something. So half of what's in there is hot water, the other half is cold. After I wait for 5 minutes, hot water starts coming out, LOL. They claim they'll be back at 9 am to replace the element on the top half. (Anyone want to make a bet on how many hours they'll be here or if they fuck it up so that I'm again without hot water?)

I washed some dishes, I was so happy. Soaked my feet in epsom salt. They're still swollen.

__________

Ennyway, I watched "Cinderella Man" today.

Evan - So you have a crush on Russell Crowe now?
Me - No. I just realized that he's a really good actor. He is ALWAYS someone different in every role he plays. I've liked every movie in which I've ever seen him. So when this came on after "A Beautiful Mind", I decided to tape it.

He ended up liking the movie too.

Dur.

He usually likes the movies I like. It's kind of odd, LOL. I guess because I don't normally watch "chick flicks".

__________

What else?

I told The Boy that I'm buying Harry Potter tomorrow.

Evan - So that's for US this Christmas?
Me - No. It's PG 13. You have to wait a whole year to watch it.

__________

I started braiding my hair.

Because I'm sick of it, LOL.

I put some green in it.

Evan wanted me to put purple. Or pink????? (That will never happen.)

I told him that the green is my tribute to Christmas, since that's about the extent of my efforts in being cheery this year.

I'll post some pics when it's all done! :-)

__________

I drank 3 shots of rum. Fell asleep for about 10 minutes.

Now I'm going to drink some more.

I think taking the Goody Powder (which has caffeine) in anticipation of the hangover is what woke me up. That, and Evan banging crap on every hard surface in here...

But I'd rather not chase a headache, nodamene? It doesn't take much for one of my headaches to turn into a migraine.

I'm off to get tipsy now. See ya!

I still don't have hot water.

My feet are still swollen.

I've had about all I can take.

I was going to say something...

Even as I was posting my Sunday memes I remembered what I had been going to blog about.

But I already forgot it.

So I'll go through the events of the past few days & maybe I'll remember.

First -
No, I don't have hot water yet. They're here AGAIN replacing the brand new water heater that doesn't heat up the water. I hope this one works. I wish they'd just left my old water heater at this point. Sure, we could only take 5 minute showers, but at least they were HOT showers. *sigh*

The landlord told me that all this remodeling would take about 3 days. That's for the brand new kitchen, the brand new toilet & potential new bathroom floor. But it's already been 3 days just for them working on the water heater.

Now? I'm thinking the fuckers will still be here the day before Christmas and come right back the day after.

And I'm afraid that all the "NEW" shit I'm getting will just mean that I'll be calling the landlord every day to report something else they fucked up.

Second -
My feet are swollen.

The left one is worse than the right, although it's hard to tell from the pictures. I told Evan that they look like they belong on a 600 lb person they're so fat. I slept with them up on the wall (Elevation. See? I'm thinking.) I want to soak them in Epsom Salt. But that would require me heating up water since I don't have any fucking hot water. When it rains, it pours...

I think the reason they are swollen is because when I went to Wal-Mart on Thursday, they didn't have any electric carts. So I had to use the basket as a walker to get around the store. The good thing about them not having carts is that I don't spend as much money because I don't look around. I just get what I came for & leave. The bad things are, apparently, that my feet swell (it HURTS) and I inevitably forget something or refuse to get it even though I have a list because it's too far away.

This is why I normally go to Wal-mart late or super early. They always have carts at those times.

Third -
My mother uses one of those CPAP (I don't know how to spell it) machines. Ever since she's gotten it, she's had trouble with the mask. It was always too big.

We went to her house Friday and she showed me her mask

She - See? It digs into my eyes but when I move it down all the air rushes out of the bottom. It's supposed to fit.

I tried it on. It fit perfectly.

Me - Oh, I never realized that you had such a tiny baby head.
Evan - She has a headlette. (He calls her toes toelettes because they're so short & tiny)
Her - No, I just don't have a big head like YOU.
Me - Big head, Big Brain. Tiny head -
Her - All right, now.

It was funny. I knew she had a small mouth. She always talks about how the dentist asks her to open her mouth as wide as she can and it's still tiny.

We had gone over there because she had cooked for Evan. Not me. She wasn't even expecting me to be there. Anyway, she made meatloaf and the ever present mac & cheese.

So after we ate and I was leaving, she said "Oh! Did you take the bread off the bottom of the meatloaf? I put it there to soak up all the grease but I forgot to tell you."

Me - That must have been the couple of moist bites that I got! I thought that the meatloaf was a tad dry, but then I'd get a moist bite so I figured it was just me...

She found it highly amusing that she fed me sawdust.

It's always odd to me when I'm around Mommy Dearest and have a good time.

But then:

She - Your brother asked me the other day if your father and I ever fought. I told him that we did, but since we lived in an apartment when we first got married I learned how to argue without getting loud because I didn't think everybody needed to know our business.

Me - There was one time when I woke up early in the morning and heard you & dad having a "discussion". I don't think you knew about it, though.

Evan - Discussion?

Me - She didn't call them arguments, she called them "Discussions".

Some story came on the news about some other fucked up family.

She - See? Aren't you glad that you didn't grow up like that?

Me - Like what?

She - With parents who fought all the time.

Me - Well you two barely spoke so I don't see how you could fight...

She - Well we never physically fought, no one was an alcoholic or a drug addict, we paid our bills, we never abused you.

Me - Right...

This is the same woman who refused to let me see a psychiatrist when I was a teenager because she was too worried that the neighbors would think she had a crazy daughter. The same woman who refused to take me to the ER when, on one of several occasions, I took all the pills in the house to try & kill myself. The same woman who beat me with a broom because she didn't like the way I held it.

But Evan was there.

So I kept my peace.

It's amazing to me how she rewrites history.

Fucking lunatic.

Finally -

I will be missing Evan's very first band performance. :-(

I wish I could describe to you just how bad my feet hurt. No, I'm not going to the doctor because the son of a bitch never does anything for swelling. Migraines? He'll hook me up. Swelling? He'll just tell me to lay off the salt & I'll tell him to kiss my ass.

I'm not wasting money on that.

Plus none of my shoes fit. And I'm NOT going out in public with slippers on. I am not that "country" yet. (I hope I never will be that country, LOL.)

I really didn't want to go & hear a bunch of 6th graders anyway, but I wish I could be there to support Evan.

I'm sure it felt good to me to have The Narcissist (AKA Mommy Dearest) there to hear my band performances. My dad never came. He only came to my softball games. But he DID buy me the clarinet, the keyboard & the guitar that allowed me to practice my musical "skills", so I never complained.

Anyway, I feel like I should go to every function he has while I can. Because there may come a day when I really can't leave the house without an entire production.

Fucking MS.

When I get to Hell, I'm going to fuck up whichever demon came up with this brilliant disease.

OH.MY.GOD

I have no hot water.

They came at about 11 this morning.

Hooked up the new water heater.

The wrong way...

So cold water was going in, but only air was coming out.

So they had to drain the new heater, take off all of the pipes & hook it back up again.

By the time they realized they didn't have the right pipes to be able to fix it, it was 9 pm and all the hardware stores were closed.

I hope they don't screw up with everything they're going to be "fixing".

*sigh*

Yay but ON NO! But mostly YAY!!!

So my new landlord has decided that my kitchen needs an overhaul.

It does.

But that means I don't want to be here during the day.

So, *sob* I will be staying at Mommy Dearest's house during the day and come back home at night.

After putting up with her for 8 hours and practically biting my tongue off, I don't know if I'll really feel like blogging much.

I don't know if they're starting tomorrow or later in the week.

If I find my camera, I might do some before & after pics. :-)

That is all.
