One of the good things about longtime friends

is that you can send an email message with just one line and you don't have to go through the "How are you? How are the kids. Blah blah" bullshit.

I made a new Hugh tag. I made one for my BFF's daughter because she has excellent taste too. I sent it with the message "whatever".

Loaded Questions

Hypotheticals: If 50 people in your age group were selected randomly, how many do you think you would find leading a happier life than yours?

10 or less. I don't think most people are truly happy.

Plus this is a rural area where most people work 12 hours, go home & get drunk, then do it all over again.

Anything Goes: What nasty habits do you have?

Farting

No-Brainers: What is/was your worst subject in high school?

History. It's extremely boring. I HATE compulsory subjects!

Personals: What is the grossest thing you have ever done in public?
Fart

What would you do…
1. You witness a nonfatal car wreck, do you help (stop and/or call 911) or continue on?
2. You witness a robbery, do you help (stop and/or call 911) or continue on?
3. You see a child who appears to be lost or hurt, do you help (stop and/or call 911) or continue on?
4. You hear a person yelling for help, do you help (stop and/or call 911) or continue on?
5. You see a fire in your neighborhood, do you help (stop and/or call 911) or continue on?

The answer to all of them is call for help. On #3 I'd ask the child if they needed help, knew their mommy's phone number, etc.

QOTW - 2007/07/16

And the Question of the Week is…

Assuming that everything written in the Old and New Testaments actually happened exactly as described, what biblical event would you like to have witnessed?

None of them. They didn't have indoor plumbing back then.

What are your 5 favorite dishes?

I can come up with individual dishes! (I can't, however, come up with 5 meals. I don't eat meals, LOL.)

1. Hot Wings
2. Cereal (Reese's Peanut Butter Puffs, Honey Bunches of Oats w/Stawberries, Kashi Go Lean Crunch, etc.)
3. Rare Steak
4. Homemade French Fries
5. Peanut Butter & Jelly Sandwich

1. Are there any weird "food rules" you have? Feel free to list as many as you like.
I don't think so. Maybe after I read other people's list I'll remember what they are.

2. When you were growing up, what ONE thing did your parents always remind you of, when it came to meal time (or cooking)?
Another question for which I have no answer.
...
The rule was that you always had to eat at least a tablespoon of whatever food you didn't want to eat. I can't tell you how many TBSPs of peas I choked down while holding my breath.

3. Is there anyone you know whose food you won't eat (for one reason or another)? I don't mind eating my grandmother's food, it tastes good, but her dishes always have a greasy film. So if I eat anything she's made I can't help but think about how many dirty greasy dishes touched the food & it makes me want to hurl.

It doesn't help that she's Southern born & raised so she feels like she has to feed me/us whenever we go over there.

It's not her fault. She's old. She probably doesn't know that her dishes aren't "clean". Her kids should buy her a dishwasher...

4. Is there anything you "specialize" in cooking, that people actually ask for?
Not really. Whatever I cook & serve to people outside my immediate family is good. But no one request a specific dish. They just ask if I've made any soup/lasagne/whatever lately because for some things I have to make more than Evan & I can eat so I give others the extra so it won't go to waste.

5. When you were growing up, what one meal do you remember as being your favorite?
Every year I requested Roast Beef, Green Beans, Mashed Potatoes, & Rolls for my birthday dinner.

6. Today, what is your IDEAL meal?
Ideal? The ideal situation would be that everything gets done at the same time so it's all hot at the same time. Usually I forget something, like heating up the veggies or getting them out of the microwave.

The ideal meal would be roast beef cooked by my mother because it's an expensive cut of meat and I only eat it when she cooks it, LOL.

Best Harry Potter book EVER

I really liked this book.

I don't want to spoil it for people who don't read as fast as I do.

I think that I can say that there was MUCH more action in this book than in any other.

And I can say that I'm not hating JK Rowling after this like I did after she killed Dumbledore in book 6.

That is all.

Evan is reading it now.

YAY!

I always made the mistake of telling him what happened in the books so he was content to wait for the movie. But this time he'd heard that at least 2 people die and I told him that I wasn't telling him anything about the book this time. He'd either have to read it or wait another 5 years for the last movie.

He's read the other books (except 6...I guess he'll wait for the movie on that one too, LOL) in school when they had to read so many books per grading period.

Wheeeeeeeee!

I want to re-read it now. But I left it on his bed when I finished it this morning as a "gentle nudge", so I can't take it away from him now.

School starts soon and I'll have plenty of time to re-read it then.

One thing I love about JK Rowling (like Stephen King) is that I really savor the books. I found myself re-reading certain passages multiple times because I loved what was happening and I wanted to enjoy that particular part before moving on to the next passage/chapter and finding myself hating her again, LOL.

But I didn't hate her at all this time.

I welled up with tears a few times, but I'm surfing the Crimson Tide at the moment so I'm feeling vulnerable. ;-)

Tell me when you've finished it so I can go into more detail.

Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows

I will be buying it tonight.

I will leave here at 11:15 pm.

It will take about 5 minutes to walk to the car, 13 minutes to drive to Wal-mart, 5 minutes to walk into the store and another 3-5 minutes to get an electric cart to do my shopping.

I will shop until midnight.

Then I will drive/ride to the book department to see that they don't have the book on the shelves yet even though they're advertising that it will be on sale at 12:01.

Then I will find an employee, ask them why the book is not on the shelves, and have them open a box and personally hand me the book, then go check out.

I will go through the same routine on August 20th because House Season 3 comes out on DVD on the 21st.

I can't wait.

I saved a few episodes of House Season 3 on the DVR. I watched "Resignation" again the other day. I'm so used to deleting crap right after I watched it that I deleted it before I realized what I was doing. :-( Doesn't matter that there's only a month before I can have that episode on DVD in my house and watch it whenever I want.

I want to watch it again. Now.

*sigh*

7/17/07

Went to see Candyman today. I had to get the temporary crown for the tooth on which I had the root canal.

He told me months ago that it would turn gray. So I was waiting for the tooth to turn gray before I went back. But it never did. I decided to go back before the hollow tooth broke and I had to get a bridge or whatever.

While I was driving, my A/C stopped working. Joy. Fucking car.

My mother had that car for 10 years, never had a problem with it. As soon as I get it, shit starts breaking. I had to get some hole fixed in the radiator & new brakes. She knew she was going to sell it to me, so she didn't bother to get it fixed. So I didn't bother to pay her the last $500 for the car.

She can suck it.

Then I went to the other wal mart and got a mouse.

Get this, my mother is so addicted to Al Green that when she came over Sunday and I told her the mouse wasn't working so she couldn't use the computer, she gave me money to buy a new one, LOL. I had the money to buy a new one. It's only $20, but I didn't tell her that.

She can suck it.

Then I went to her house for dinner because she made roast beef. Since her dog died she can't eat an entire roast beef by herself, and Starr isn't there to eat the leftovers.

So we ate. Evan stayed with her while I was at the dentist. When I got to her house she told me that she had been planning on making real mashed potatoes (not instant), but THE BOY said he wanted mac & cheese. So I made him eat a whole bunch of green beans before he ate the mac & cheese.

He can suck it too, LOL.

That's it!

I forgot to set the DVR to record some new show that's on RIGHT NOW.

I'm out.

Ask me if it's hot enough for me
Ignore the big ass "DO NOT DISTURB" sign on my front door by knocking and asking if I know where someone else lives/is.

2 things you find yourself moaning about:
My back
My lack of sex

1 thing the above answers tell you about yourself:
I'm antisocial and undersexed.

My mouse is broken

One minute it was working, I was actually doing something on Paintshop Pro.

I stopped to fix dinner.

Came back, it wasn't working.

The right button works, just not the left button.

It's irritating.

So I'm hoping I only need a new mouse.

Farking computers.

Grrrrrr

Monday Madness - Laundry

1. Do you do your own laundry or do you send it out? Do my own.

2. Do you laundry at your home or a laundromat? Laundromat.

3. Are there certain articles of clothing that you need to have dry-cleaned on a regular basis? Nope. I don't buy dry clean only clothes.

4. How often do you do laundry? Is there a certain day of the week that you consider "laundry day?" Every 2 weeks. Sunday is laundry day because everyone else is at church & I get my choice of washers.

5. Do you iron your clothes as you pull them out of the dryer or do you wait until just before you wear the clothing to iron? I don't iron! I hang them up immediately out of the dryer. I haven't ironed since I worked.

6. Do you hang your clothes outside to dry or do you dry them in a dryer? Dryer. Mommy Dearest used to hang my clothes outside & once I was putting on a pair of jeans and a big ass spider fell out of the leg.

I like the way clothes smell out of the dryer. And they're softer. Line dried clothes are stiff, IMO.

7. Do you own things that need to be hand-washed or do you try to avoid buying things that you can't wash in the washing machine?
I don't buy hand wash stuff.
