Blog Explosion is pissing me off. I can't rent my blog because I can't accept any bids. I've noticed, though, that no one else is able to either. FIX THIS PROBLEM.

This is what happens when sites get a new server. Everything is fucked up for a while.

What WAS I going to say??? I'll probably remember after I finally go to bed tonight (meaning tomorrow morning). I hate that.

I remembered! LOL.

Last night I was browsing blogs and I found a tutorial about adding a rainbow gradient to a picture. I'd tell you where it was if I remembered but I don't.

Anyway, I played with the tutorial and I added a brown gradient to a pic of my face. I also messed with it in other ways. Just bored, I reckon.

So I posted the new pic as my new profile pic.

Every time I look at it, it looks so odd to me, LOL.

I think it's a pretty good tut for making yourself look better in pics. If you're vain like me. :-)

Battle of the Blogs 2

I really want to understand what makes people pick some blogs over other blogs.

Is it the appearance of the blog?
Is it the content of the blog?
Is it the first post you read?
Is it how long it takes the page to load?

What about the battles between 2 opponents on a topic in which you have no interest?

For me, that's Religion & Politics. I end up picking the blog I disagree with less, LOL.

What about photo blogs?

I don't LIKE photo blogs, but if there are 2 competing against each other, I pick the one with the prettier pictures.

It's all so subjective.

And why do the people who keep losing keep battling? Do they think it's going to change? Or do they just want exposure?

It's confusing stuff....

New Tenant - Ladybug Hill

I started a new "Rent my blog" campaign.

I put the offer up yesterday, I got 2 bids. Slept (FINALLY) at 11 o'clock today and when I woke up I had 3 more offers.

One dude had a different language on his site. ??? I don't even know why he bid. I know that at BlogExplosion you have to have your blog in English, but there was enough not-English there that it might as well be a bilingual blog. Not even Spanish, some language I've never heard before. Or he's a really bad typist and he doesn't proofread before he posts.

ANYWAY, one of the bids was Ladybug Hill. I could totally feel her on her first post (that I read) so I didn't need to go any further.

After accepting the bid (HA!) I've read some more posts. I think my tenant and I have a few things in common, and I like her writing style.

I also like the fact that her blog seems as varied as mine. Not post after post about one topic. :-)

I've noticed

that different Banners for my blog get different levels of interest.

I have 3 banners that I use at BlogExplosion

The first one:



Averaged about 40% clickthrough. I thought that was great since I don't pay attention to the banners that go past when I'm fulfilling my blog surfing duties. So I didn't really know if banners would actually help attract visitors.

The second one I just made because I was bored:



But the first day I used it, it had about 80% clickthrough. I was shocked. Now it usually averages about 70%.

I just made a new one:



I'll see how that compares to the other 2. I wish I KNEW what attracted people to the second banner more than the first one. If I did, I'm make my banners more like that one.

It's confusing.

Sarcasm Aside - My new tenant.

I told you a while ago that I had joined BlogExplosion to get more traffic to my blog.

Well, they have this thing where you can rent your blog out to other people (look under my picture, that's the link to my renter. Otherwise it says "Rent my blog") OR you can rent other people's blogs.

When you let someone rent your blog, it supposed to generate more traffic to their site and in return I get credits which allows me to get more banners to get more traffic.

Confused yet?

I don't care.

Anyway, I had 5 interested bidders to rent my blog and I chose "Sarcasm Aside".

First, the name appealed to me. Dur.

But then I read the profile & a couple of posts from each bidder. I liked his profile and I LOVED his blog entry about painting his room, LOL. Go there and read it. Click the link. Over there in the sidebar under my picture.
