Memes, Memes & Memes - 11/7/07

4 for Friday

Q1 - Holy Crap!: What would you do if you saw someone who looked exactly like you? Would you approach them and attempt to have a conversation, snap a picture if you could get away with it, or just run like hell?
I'd ask them to pose for a picture with me, then come home and blog about it, LOL.

Q2 - Dreams: According to many sources, with a little training and discipline, it is entirely possible to control your dreams. Would you want to be able to control what you dream about when you are asleep, and if so, what are some of the things you think you'd choose to dream about? I already can to some extent. As soon as I realize that I'm dreaming, I try to change it into something I like. I've also managed to "get back" into dreams after I've already awakened. That only happened once or twice. They were kick ass dreams! :-)

Q3 - Pay Phones: After years of seeing its public pay-phone business migrate to cell phones, AT&T said earlier this week it will phase out its pay phones in 13 states by the end of 2008. While AT&T's decision doesn't mean the end of the pay phone--Verizon, one of the nation's largest pay phone providers says it is still committed to the pay phone business--public phones are becoming more difficult to find. When was the last time you used a public pay phone, and are you concerned that pay phones may eventually disappear altogether? I have no idea when I last used a public phone. No, I'm not concerned about it.

Q4 -Lingerie-clad Models: In Carmel, Indiana, some residents are demanding City Hall do something about the local Victoria's Secret window display. Parents are concerned that Victoria's Secret goes too far with its public-facing displays, and that local children are being made vulnerable to inappropriate images. Do you feel stores like Victoria's Secret should tone it down a bit, or is how they choose to entice shoppers into their store okay as is?
I don't know, I've never seen a VS ad in person. And I don't think it would expose Evan to anything he hasn't already seen...

3. Do you ever wish you were a different age than you are now? Why? Always. I'd like to be over 43 because that would make Evan over 20 and I wouldn't worry about how he's going to turn out because I'd already know.

4. Do you deliberately behave or dress a certain way to appear or feel younger than you are? How about older? No. I dress the way I dress because it's easy. :-)

5. What is your *real* age? 35

1. Plans and schedules are a necessary evil.

2. I'm happy when things are free.

3. The last thing I drank was Peach Citrus Fresca.

2. What kinds of things do you find it easy to remember? My name, phone number, address...

3. What kinds of things do you find it difficult to remember? Everything else, LOL. Sometimes I remember to make a grocery list, but then I forget to take it with me OR (my favorite) I forget to take it out of my purse.

4. How does your short-term memory compare to your long-term memory? I no longer have the short term memory to make new memories that turn into old memories. It's crazy.

5. How do you commit things to memory? Do you use tricks, songs, images, word associations, or other little mnemonics?
If it's a name, I try to repeat it in my head a few times. If I'm listening to a song or TV show the first time I hear whatever it is, I'm more likely to remember.

Friday Fiver

1. Who do you owe? Freaking Mommy Dearest. I don't have dental insurance and she loaned me the money to get a root canal and that thing that they put on your tooth afterwards. Crown?

FOUR FOR FRIDAY

Q1 - Judged by a Supreme Being: If their objective were to judge us, what would the three worst places be for extraterrestrials to land in the U.S. and observe Americans? Los Angeles/Hollywood. Las Vegas. New Orleans.

Q2 - Changing it Up: After checking into a hotel, have you ever been so disappointed with your accommodations that you asked to be moved to another room? If so, what were the circumstances that led to the request?
Yes. There was mildew in the shower and the whole room made me itch. We actually left. This was in NY city.

Q3 - Wedding Bands: Do you have a system for when you do and do not wear your wedding band/ring? For instance, do you wear yours 24/7/365, remove at night or when participating in strenuous activities, etc.? If you are not married and you wear jewelry on a regular basis, what system do you employ? I'm not married and the only jewelry I wear on a regular basis are my magnet bracelets because they really do work! I feel much less back & knee pain when I have them on. I wear them 24/7. Other jewelry I wear if I'm going some place other than Wal-mart.

Q4 - ???: What's your reaction to this? LMFAO!!!!

Friday Memes

Five on Friday

Would you rather...

1: eat nothing but chocolate or go without chocolate for the rest of your life? Go without chocolate. Even something good gets old after a while.

2: stub your toe or get a paper cut? Get a paper cut.

3: write the news or make the news? Write the news. I can't imagine what good I would do to make the news, LOL.

4: lose 10 pounds or gain 10 IQ points? Gain 10 IQ points. I don't think you can ever be too smart.

5: wear a costume to work or wear normal clothes to a Halloween party? Wear normal clothes to a Halloween party.

FOUR FOR FRIDAY - THE 'OTHER PEOPLE'S QUESTIONS' EDITION

Q1 - Jerry Chrisman Asks: What is one of your favorite words? Fuck.

Q2 - Steve Lindhorst Asks: How do react when you are out in public and approached by someone carrying a clipboard asking for your signature on a petition or requesting that you participate in a survey? I listen to what the petition or survey is for. As long as they aren't trying to sell me anything, I'll give them a couple of minutes.

Q3 - Jake Sabey Asks: I have a friend that I have never seen wear blue jeans, a friend who claims to never have tried Ketchup, and yet another friend who cannot help but say "Bless You" immediately upon hearing someone--anyone--sneeze. What do your friends or peers know you for?
I have no idea. And I don't think I care...

Q4 - Katie Hanks Asks: Have you ever met anyone famous? If so who and where? No.

Friday Fiver

1. What is sweet? Sugar.

2. What hours do you work? I try to avoid work at all hours. Avoiding work is my job.

3. When do you relax? When I'm alone.

4. How did you learn about the birds and the bees? Probably when I read my first romance book (which I DO NOT do anymore and think should be rated R so that no one under 17 can read that bullshit.)

The Alternative Friday Five *See, personality/background really influences how I "read" a sentence, LOL. I was thinking "Alternative to the regular Friday Five" but I think they meant alternative as it relates to sexuality. Whatever*

1. What do people tend to assume about you, because it's the perceived cultural norm, that isn't true (e.g. sexual orientation, gender, religion)? What is the reality? That I'm a democrat. That I like shopping. That I go to those black churches that you see on TV where the preacher is screaming and the choir is awesome. The reality is that I vote for the best candidate regardless of their party. I hate shopping. When I do go to church (rarely) I prefer the ones that only last an hour and no one is screaming or doing the "Holy Ghost Dance".

2. Which of those things are you "out" about (i.e., which ones do you tend to choose to explicitly reveal or clarify)? Why? Shopping. Because I really hate shopping & I hate that I get grouped in with all the chicks who really like doing all that girly crap.

3. Which of those things are you not "out" about? Why? My political stance. It's hard being black & not being a democrat. Or liberal. In my family, anyway.

4. Does your level of "outness" vary between social situations (e.g. work, family, friends)? If yes, what are the differences? Yes. I really don't tell my relatives anything about myself, LOL. Strangers know me better. BECAUSE, when I was growing up, the people who were supposed to love me most no matter what would use whatever I said to hurt me. I learned to keep my opinions to myself around them.

5. How would you define "coming out"? Finally not giving a shit what others would think/do/say & saying how I really feel.

Friday Memes

Five on Friday: Jingle All the Way

1. Do you ever find yourself singing advertising jingles? Out loud? No. I find them stuck in my head.

2. What are your favorite jingles? Blue by the Froot of the Loom Guys.

3. Which jingles do you hate to hear? Any of those check cashing commercials. I don't see a lot of commercials anymore. I stop ffwding for Sonic commercials or "Blue", but that's it.

4. Why do you think jingles are so effective?
Because they get into your head. You find yourself having some crazy jingle in your head and half the time you don't even know what the product is.

5. Are jingles going the way of the dinosaur? Or do you think we're going to be singing them for the next 50 years?
Maybe the way this crap gets into our heads will change, but they will never stop advertising.

Friday Fiver

1. What makes you feel exposed? Nudity.

2. What do you have to force yourself to do?
Clean the house.

3. Where do you like to spend your time outdoors? Inside.

Late at night I'm wishing I would go to sleep already!!!
