Yummy for my tummy, bad for my thighs

Feeling Normal

W

ent to Wal-Mart today.

I got 3 outfits for my niece.

On the way out I stopped by the bakery to see if they had my favorite blueberry muffins.

Big Mistake.

Look what I found:

Reese's Donuts

Reese's Peanut Butter Cup DonutSo, I ate one.

Oh my freaking Gawd. So good. The peanut butter was salty & the chocolate had a good flavor (not like some cheap chocolate tastes) and they were yeast donuts (my favorites) and not cake donuts.

I hope they don't have them next time I go to Wal-Mart.

I'll gain 30 lbs & spend major money on some shit I don't need.

I'm going to dream about those donuts...

I just started thinking about this today

Feeling Normal

I

was in the kitchen washing dishes when I heard a tide commercial.

As most black people & other minorities know, "They" (advertisers) don't normally show advertisements with "us" (black people) unless it is a black show. I think the show I was watching was Bonnie Hunt or something hosted by a white person or with a primarily white cast.
"I'm used to seeing black people in commercials on BET, but not necessarily NBC, CBS, ABC or Fox."
It always surprises & pleases me when I see a "black" commercial during shows that aren't aimed at "us". I'm used to seeing black people in commercials on BET, but not necessarily NBC, CBS, ABC or Fox. And by "black people" I mean more than one black person. More than a token, KWIM?

I'm not complaining. I'm just stating a fact.

It pleases me because I think "Well, maybe now "they" (advertisers) are realizing that we buy the same stuff white people do."

It's different when the commercial has a celebrity. So I'm not talking about Revlon or Cover Girl commercials (which seem to have a pretty diverse cast anyway), but regular stuff like laundry detergent, grocery stores, cars, etc.

There's one commercial for Wal-Mart that has a white man & a black woman TOGETHER. Like, married. *faint*

I totally forgot what I was going to say because I saw Russell Brand on The View this morning. He was flirting with Sherri Shephard & Whoopi asked him if he'd ever "had" a sister. He said "Yeah. Loads. It's different than in this country. In England we're all getting it on."

But anyway, to show you what I mean, here are 2 tide commercials. One aimed at "us" and one for the rest of y'all who aren't minority. :-)

BTW, if that song in the first commercial is a real song & not just for the commercial, let me know who does it. I like the song. That's one commercial I don't FF through just because I like the song.

Continue with your regularly scheduled lives now. :-)

Mother's Day & Aunt Flo

Feeling ???

I

have no idea how I feel right now.

As you know, I am currently dealing with my hated Aunt Flo. Which means that one minute I'm pissed the eff off and the next minute I'm ready to cry.

There's some commercial on TV. I don't remember the product or even the industry. I just know it's a black family and the mom looks back at her baby and says "Honey Bunny" and the baby grins her toothless grin. I keep rewinding that.

NO, I DON'T WANT A BABY.

But I have been thinking about when Evan was a baby.
"This Mother's Day...I did the laundry."
When he was about 6 months old and we went for a ride with the windows down and he was cracking up when the wind was going through his hair.

Evan 3 MonthsHe was such a good baby. Always happy. Never really cried. On my first Mother's Day, MD and I took him to a veddy fancy restaurant (the hospital gave me a free meal for 2 on Mother's Day). I know when I walked in with a 5 month old, everyone was thinking "Oh shit. That kid is going to be crying and ruin our day."

But he didn't. He just sat there looking around.

This Mother's Day...I did the laundry. My formerly precious bundle of joy was bugging the shit out of me to go outside and play with his cousin.

Me - Dude, it's Mother's Day. I'm sure he has plans with his mother and grandmother.
He - *sigh* Ok.

I didn't even get a kiss or a hug.

I did take him to MD's house so that we could give her our cards and the houseplant that I got for her. She was on her way to church so we didn't have to stay.

He gave her a hug. Effing suck-up that he is.

Whatever, man. I hate my period and it sucks that I was on it yesterday. :-(

That is all.

I need to put the scanner to use

I

hate my handwriting. Monique's handwriting pisses me off. I wish I wrote more like her, but bigger.

Anyway, here's me writing with my right hand and my left hand. I'm left handed, BTW.

In my defense, I don't really write anymore. I sign checks & Christmas cards. That's it.

I can write backwards in cursive!

I used to write backwards to my niece. She'd give up and hold it in front of a mirror, but it was fun. :-)

I can write upside down too. It's not the neatest, but whatever. Can you write upside down in cursive? That's what I thought!

The first time I wrote upside down for this exercise, I accidentally wrote it backwards too.

So, in case you were wondering, NO that is not my signature at the end of my posts. But it's better than my real signature, LOL.
