Fried Chicken Smoothie

Feeling Normal

Y

ou all know that Evan had all 4 of his wisdom teeth removed on Friday, right?

BlenderI've been doing my best not to eat while he's awake because I know he can't chew. But yesterday I was getting a hunger headache. So I started frying some chicken (that had been frozen & thawed in salt & garlic water brine).

Evan - You're making me hungry!
Me - Look, I've tried to only eat when you're asleep. I had lasagna yesterday when I thought you were alseep.
Evan - I don't remember that...you're doing good.
Me - Do you want me to make you a fried chicken smoothie?
Evan - *scrunched up face* gross
Me - You don't know if it's gross unless you try it.
Evan - Ok.

Fried Chicken SmoothieSo I had 2 garlic & chicken bullion cubes, put them in the blender with a cup of water (or whatever) and with the pieces of chicken I had pulled off the bone.

Evan said it tasted good (it did) but that his instinct was to chew.

So, if you ever have oral surgery or get your jaw wired shut, you have a new recipe to drink...

If you can get past the instinct to chew and not just drink it like a milkshake, LOL.

The best wrap EVER!

H

ere is my recipe to make one of the best wraps ever.

Or, one of the best wraps you can make without cooking and it's easy enough for your kids to make for themselves. :-)

First, you need all of your ingredients:

Flour Tortilla
Cream Cheese
Guacamole
Lunch Meat
Bacon Bits

1. Spread the cream cheese on the tortilla. Cream cheese has the right kind of "bite" and you don't have to worry about not having cheese in every bite like you would with sliced or shredded cheese.

2. Spread the guacamole on top of the cream cheese. Guacamole is not just for tortilla chips! You'll be amazed at the new flavor added to your sandwiches & wraps and, unlike mayonnaise, the fat is good fat.

3. Sprinkle the bacon bits on top of the guacamole. This is so that the bacon bits won't fall off/out when you wrap the thing. They stay where they land, which is nice. Bacon bits are not necessary, but what isn't better with bacon? Very Important: You must use real bacon bits. Do not pollute the integrity of the wrap with imitation "bacon" bits.

4. Add the lunch meat. I used smoked turkey & ham, but you can use whatever you want, obviously. I wouldn't try bologna, but I'm not a big fan of bologna... 3 slices of ham & 2 slices of turkey for The Boy because I plan on eating the majority of the turkey myself and he doesn't even know the difference, I bet. He's male. He'll eat practically anything.

Finally, you can roll up your wrap. To make a complete lunch, add a Claussen Pickle Spear (very crunchy) and some yogurt for dessert.

All the food groups are represented. Dairy, Meat, Veggies & Bacon.

Voila! Easy lunch that even your picky 13 year old will inhale. :-)

You're welcome.

MD gave me some sneakers!

T

hat's "Trainers" for you Brits. ;-)

First, MD's 2 obsessions are Sneakers and Jewelry. She likes gold, but every once in a while she decides to buy something silver and I usually end up getting it. Fine with me!

Second, she has more shoes than she can wear in 3 months without repeating a pair. Usually, if she buys a pair and doesn't like them she just sends them back.

The thing you need to know is that MD had discovered that flat shoes make her back hurt, so she always needs a little heel. But she bought these:

I told her when she came over that they looked too flat for her. She said she was going to put some inserts into the shoe which would raise the heel on the inside.

I still tried them on (she wears a 10, technically I wear an 8.5 but a 9 feels so good that I usually buy a 10). They had only half an inch of space between my toe and the end of the shoe, so I don't know how her feet were feeling in them.

BUT ANYWAY

She came over the other day with the shoes and told me that I could have them.

Wheeeeeeeee!

Really, there are times when my feet/legs swell so having a pair of her ginormous generously sized shoes around is convenient so that I don't have to go to Wal-Mart in slippers.

Whatever.

Guess what I'm cooking today?

Cheesesteak Soup. I've never tried it before. I know it smells delicious. I'll let you know how it turns out.

**UPDATE** - The first bite was awesome. The second - 10th bites were good. It got less awesome with each bite. I think I'll try cheddar cheese next time. The American cheese gave it an odd taste, IMO.

The Boy has been asking me to make some Peanut Butter Muffins for weeks. But the upper part of my left butt cheek is hurting so I really don't feel like standing for that long.

But they are delicious. Here's the recipe:

1/2 Cup Peanut Butter
1/2 Cup Butter
1 1/2 Cups Sugar
2 Eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1 Cup Flour

Bake at 350° for 25 minutes

You can bake it in a pan, but I find it better (healthier) for us to bake it in a muffin pan so that I can restrict myself The Boy to 1 per day. Also, I usually add half a bag of peanut butter chips to the batter.

That is all!
