Friday Memes Part Deux 11/30/07

Friday's Feast

Appetizer
What is your favorite carnival/amusement park ride?
Roller Coaster

Soup
How do you react in uncomfortable social situations?
I probably appear the same way I always do. Calm, cool & collected. I just feel uncomfortable.

Salad
On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being highest, how much do you enjoy discussing deep, philosophical topics?
0

Main Course
Did you get a flu shot this year? If not, do you plan to?
Not yet. I probably should. It's recommended for people with chronic diseases. But every time I get a flu shot, I get a cold. It's not as bad as the flu, but it's bad enough.

Dessert
Approximately how many hours per week do you spend watching television?

140? No idea. I'm not going to think about it either. The TV is ON, but I don't actually watch it constantly. I just like paying those high electricity bills...

Friday 5

1. Are you a mentalist or an illusionist? I don't know the definitions for either of those, so I'm going to say Illusionist because people have the impression that I have all my shit together (in real life) but it's so not true, LOL.

2. You’re on a roll. Do you feel the roll you’re on? Yes. Rolling down into hades.

3. How many performances a week? I try to avoid performances at all costs. Unfortunately, I have to perform every time I leave the house. I live in the South. I have to act like I give a flying fart how someone else is doing. In reality, I don't care. :-)

4. Is there a little bit of Evel Knievel in you? Yes. I'm taking my life into my hands every time I go down stairs...

5. How much of what you do is physical, by the way? Does sitting at the computer desk count? If so, 75%. If not...1%.

TGIF

1. What current TV show is your favorite? House, MD.

2. What current TV show can't you stand? Dancing With the Stars. I just cannot deal with the music on there. I tried to watch it once. They slow songs down for the "dancers". And I don't know who's trying to sing those songs, but they should give it up. Ever heard that joke:

Person A: Who sings that song?
Person B: Beyonce
Person A: Well let her sing it!!

3. What TV show do you love despite the fact that you can't stand its actor/s? Um...I can't think of one. I'm not fond of the red haired guy on CSI Miami. He always stands sideways. WTF is that about?

4. What actor/s do you love so much that you'll watch any show they're in?

Hugh Laurie. I don't really like Jeeves & Wooster. I've watched the series once. Now it's just collecting dust on my DVD shelves.

Julian McMahon. I used to love Charmed. There was some other show he was on before that, though. I started watching it (whatever it was) when I was in full blow crush mode.

Angel. What's his name? David something? I started watching Bones because he's on it, and it's the lead in for House AND because it's actually a pretty good show. Boreanaz? That's it, but I don't know how to spell it.

5. What TV star do you think deserves to be bigger than Tom Cruise? All of them. I don't trust anyone who smiles that much. But he does make some kick ass movies, LOL. He's like Denzel! He's the same dude in every movie.

Friday Memes 11/30/07

Four for Friday

Q1 - Beam Me Up, Scotty: Do you think humans should actively attempt to colonize another planet, or would doing so right now simply be a waste of money? No. I think it would be a waste of money AND we would ruin that planet too, LOL.

Q2 - Absurdity: Which do you think is more absurd: That a 54-year-old school teacher in the Sudan was arrested earlier in the week and sentenced to 15 days in prison after she allowed her class of seven-year-olds to name a teddy bear "Mohammed" as part of a school project, or the fact that almost every single late night "talk" show--including The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Late Night with Conan O'Brien, Jimmy Kimmel Live, and The Late Show with David Letterman--is on hiatus because of a "writers" strike?

I really don't know anything about Sudan except I don't want to live there. So I think it's absurd that comedians, who have to write their own material on stage, are on strike and putting all these other people (make up artists, camera operators, stage hands) out of work.

Q3 - Spend It All, Now!: On this day in 2004, longtime Jeopardy! champion Ken Jennings finally lost after winning 222 consecutive rounds and netting for himself over $2.5 million in winnings. If you came into 10 times that amount of money ($25,000,000) and were given just 72 hours to spend every last dime, how would you spend it? (Caveat #1: You are limited to investing or trusting only 1% or $250,000. Caveat #2: You may only purchase one piece of real property and its cost may not exceed 4% of the total spend or $1,000,000.)

Yada Yada is what the details read to me. What is "real" property? Is that limited to real estate? Or can I buy a yacht? Not that I'd want one, but since this is a Brewster's Millions scenario I need all the details explained in plain English for someone who didn't pay attention in whatever class taught this.

1 Million dollar house, cars for all my friends, new wardrobes for everyone I know, jewelry, etc. I'd buy ALL the Tickets on a 747 and travel all over eating at the restaurants of all the chefs I see on TV & paying for the dinners of all the other diners.

Whatever. I'd get my greediest friends to help me find ways to waste the money.

Do I get more after this? Or do I just have to "burn" it and have nothing to show for it except my mansion? This makes no sense.

Q4 - Cars: What is the absolute worst experience you have ever had in an automobile? I've only had one wreck, caused by the other person, and it really wasn't that bad. I love driving. I haven't really had any bad experiences in a car. OH! I ran over a dog once. It was bad because it fucked up my alignment and I really didn't have the money to fix it for a while...

:-) LMFAO imagining all the dog lovers totally horrified right now. HA! Dumbass dog shouldn't have run out in the middle of the busiest street in the city! And then the canine had the nerve to get up and run away and leave me with a fucked up car! It was one of those little shits too. I do wish it had been a cat, though. Cats are evil.

The Friday Five

1. What is your favorite experience in your life so far? Having sex.

2. What motivates you to keep going every day? If I die, Evan will have to live with my BFF (he doesn't know her well) or my mother. I think I'd claw my way back from hell before I let that happen.

3. Where do you want to go in life? What do you want to accomplish? To bed. A full 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep.

4. Is there anything that you regret? Do you try to change it? Buying my 3rd car. It was a lemon. I should have bought the white car...

5. What is your most cherished gift you have received? Why do you cherish it so much? I don't really get gifts which is FINE WITH ME so I don't have to fake gratitude. :-)

Four Foods on Friday: #6

1. Jello. What’s your favorite flavor or recipe? I don't eat jello. Haven't since I was a child. Do they have Green Apple jello? If so, that's my favorite. If not, I'll drink water.

2. Red liquid covering for pasta. Do you call it sauce or gravy and why? Sauce. Gravy is brown or white. And it's called "Spaghetti Sauce" right there on the label.

3. Cereal. What’s your favorite kind of cereal (can be hot or cold)? Honey Bunches of Oats with Strawberries. It ticks me off that they don't have a family size box of that, but they have a family size in all the other HBoO varieties.

4. What is the worst food smell you know of?
Chitlins (Chitterlings - pig intestines). But to smell so much like shit, they taste almost as good as bacon. :-)

Flick4Friday

Okay, this one is free form. Choose a movie you dislike. Connect the lead actor to Kevin Bacon in 6 movie degrees. See if you like one of those six movies and recommend it!

Robin Hood Men in Tights.

1) Starred Cary Elwes who was also in
2) Another Country with Colin Firth who was also in
3) Where the Truth Lies with Kevin Bacon

Maverick
1) Starred Jodie foster who was also in
2) Sommersby with Maury Chaykin who was in
3) Where the Truth Lies with Kevin Bacon

Sommersby was pretty good for a chick flick. Haven't seen it in forever, though. It's the one where Richard Gere has amnesia.

You know I had to do this

Stuart Little
1) Starred my boyfriend, Hugh Laurie, who was also in
2) Blackadder Back & Forth with Colin Firth who was in
3) (Drumroll please) Where the Truth Lies with Kevin Bacon

Whatever. I tend to forget the names of movies I don't like. And I can't remember the names of all those crappy Japanese films I saw before I finally decided to stop watching them.

Thursday Memeage 11/29/07

Thursday Challenge
Theme:Happy

3x Thursday

1. Do you think as humans, we'd be better off *without* feelings? Why/why not?

We're definitely better off with feelings. If I had no feelings, namely fear (of jail) and guilt (for sinning), Mommy Dearest would have been dead 20 years ago.

Just watch the news to see how fucked up some people are. The other day I heard three stories about child abuse in the same 30 minutes. Some dude duct taped his son to a chair and left him in a closet. A neighbor heard the kid screaming. Some daycare bitch taped a pacifier into a baby's mouth. And then there's the couple who beat their kid to death.

The whole world would be like prison if we couldn't put ourselves in the shoes of the person we want to harm.

Have you ever been abused? Have you ever had someone betray your trust? Have you ever had anything stolen from you? How did you FEEL? Doesn't it make you THINK about what you do every day?

2. So, you have a bad day at work. You put up with the day and then you go home. What do you do to relax and prepare for another work day?

Listen to music and/or veg out in front of the TV.

3. Do you worry about the big things (work, finances, tests) or the little things (broken cars, the house not being clean, a tear in your shirt)? Why?

Both. Because I have a lot of time on my hands, LOL.

Seriously, I worry about the big things more. I don't give a shit how the house looks. As long as we have food to eat off of clean dishes in a house with heat and The Boy wears clean clothes to school, I don't really care what else is going on. And a "broken" car is not a small thing. It's the ONLY thing that allows me to go out and get the food that we eat without having to ask people for "favors".

Thursday Threesome

Onesome: Therapeutic-- household addons: Do you use candles or aroma therapy or bath soaps or salts around your place?
I have all of that stuff. I rarely use it because I'm really sensitive to smells. And having a house that smells like potpourri brings back memories of childhood. (I avoid childhood memories whenever possible.)

Twosome: Moisturizing?-- How's the weather been? It's the rainy season in the US; what's happening where you live? It rained for 3 or 4 days earlier this week. Still hot, though. I only had on a short sleeved t-shirt when I went out today.

Threesome: Lotion-- Since it's Winter in the Northern Hemisphere, it's dry skin time. Do you have any hand lotion suggestions for the gang?

I use lotion year round because I like the way I smell with it, I don't wear perfume & I'm ashy (ask a black person) without lotion.

For really extreme dry skin, coat your hands & feet (or whatever body part) in Vaseline & put on some old clothes that you don't care about messing up with grease stains & go to bed. When you wake up, you'll be as soft as a baby's bottom.

Another thing I stole

From Skittle's Place is the ClickComment Widget.

People visit this blog, (Hello Jasper, TN. I see you!) but they don't always comment. With ClickComment, they can register their vote of Cool, Fun, Put me to sleep, or whatever with a click of their mouse.

I'm interested to see if this changes anything on my blog, LOL. Probably not.

I don't notice changes from most of the crap I add. Woe is me.

Anyway, now you can tell me what you think about certain posts but not go through the whole ACTUAL COMMENTING that brings me joy. :-)

Daily Three

Daily Three

1. What temperature do you consider to be "cold" or when you would need to wear warm clothes? Anything under 60 is when I start wearing a jacket.

2. What is a typical Winter like in your area? What are the average temps this time of year? I don't know what the average temps are, but it's never cold enough for me! I should move to Canada... We rarely get snow here in the "dirty dirty". If we do, it melts fast. School is canceled for the threat of snow. I hate the south for that reason, LOL.

3. If you live in a cooler climate, what is it that you enjoy most about it? Why do you choose to remain living there? If you live in a warmer climate, have you ever visited places that were seasonably cold? What did you like or dislike about it?
I used to live in MD. School was never canceled for snow! I hated it then, but now I would appreciate it, LOL. I don't move because I am disabled and all my family is here. I don't worry about The Boy being kidnapped and sold into slavery for some weird sex slave trade thing. I only worry about him impregnating some white chick whose father is in the KKK. ;-)

Tina's Tuesdays

Topic: Going To The Movies

1. What was the last movie you saw at the theater? The final Star Wars. III?

2. Did you enjoy watching it? Why or why not.
It was ok for a Star Wars movie. Some dude was in there clapping every time he saw Yoda or Chewbacca. THAT was amusing, LOL.

3. What's the next movie you wish to go see in the theater? None. I don't like going to the theater. I need the ability to pause because The Boy never shuts up. When I make him sit a few rows in front of me, he still turns around to see my reaction. It's distracting.

Tuesday Twosome: Holidays

1. Are you almost finished with your holiday shopping or you haven’t started yet? I have some done. Not done yet.

2. What do the holidays mean to you? How does this affect how you celebrate the holidays? Nothing. It doesn't, LOL.

3. Are you going away for the holidays or staying home? Home, dur.

4. What two things do you like about this time of year? The weather. The snow.

5. What two things do you dislike about this time of year? The geedee Christmas music that starts right after Halloween. The people standing in front of stores with the red buckets. Their bells feel like an ice pick to my ears.

I'm awake, so I'm blogging

First, my favorite woman in the whole wide world produced a movie directed by my favorite male actor in the world.

Yes, Oprah Winfrey is producing the Denzel Washington film "The Great Debaters". It comes out Christmas Day.

...

I understand the whole thing about big box office on Opening Week. But this shit is getting ridiculous. Christmas is on a Tuesday.

Remember back in the day when new movies came out on Fridays? Then producers started releasing on Thursday, to get a bigger "weekend". Now it's Wednesdays.

Oprah just had to do it on Tuesday. Christmas, no less.

I'll still see it because it looks like a good movie and I'd never heard this story before.

But I'll wait for DVD when Mommy Dearest buys it, because she buys anything starring black people & never watches it, so I'll see it for free.

Oprah can kiss my ass. And she pissed me off on her show today every time she said "Danzel". WTF??? (Yessssssss, sometimes I record the show because I want to see the celebs. Even if it's just to hate, LOL.)

Danzel was wearing one of my mother's muumuus as a shirt. He looked like he'd been crying. And he looked like he'd gained about 30 lbs. But whatever.

Second, I think I have mice!!!!!!! I'd like to thank Cat from JJHF for bringing this up in the forum. She just had to start talking about it. Now I'm hearing what sounds like mice chewing on the studs in my kitchen ceiling. I haven't seen any evidence (droppings, sawdust), but what else makes that noise?

And how the hell am I supposed to get that killer bait in the ceiling???? And if they do eat it and then die in the walls, my house will smell like corpses for I don't know how long.

I'm going to bait the kitchen and bathroom. And call the landlord. And never speak to Cat again. ;-)

What else?

I know there was something...

*Sigh*

No idea.

But a few weeks/months ago I told Mommy Dearest about The Boondocks. I let her watch an episode here. So then I had to go set her DVR to record it.

It's interesting that she wants to watch it. It's a cartoon. They say "Nigga" almost every sentence. She usually doesn't like anything I watch.

But she told my brother about it (I'm shocked he didn't know about it already) and now he watches it too.

It's nice when we can all watch the same wholesome family entertainment in different places.

HA!

It comes on the Cartoon Network on Mondays if you want to check it out. :-)

They have a lot of celebrities doing the voices. Craig's Dad from Friday plays Granddad, Regina King (from Ray) does Huey & Riley, Charlie Murphy plays Ed Wuncler, Samuel L. Jackson plays Rummy. This week Snoop Dogg, Busta Rhymes and some other rapper (I think) played characters. Last week Aisha Tyler was on.

I think I have more fun trying to figure out the voices before the credits roll than actually watching the show, LOL.

That is all. For now.

I'm off to eff with my template some more. :-)

I got my first Christmas Present today!!!

A while ago I was reading Sue's blog and she wrote that she had received her box.

I thought it was a cute/cool idea, so of course I had to get one.

Wheeeee! You have no idea how excited I was to receive it!

Evan - Let's open it and see what's inside it!!
Me - Boy, there's nothing inside it.
Evan - Well who would send you and empty box?
Me - It's an art project. I think it's cool.
Evan - Well, what do you do with it?
Me - I'm going to put it on a shelf with my pictures.
Evan - It's weird
Me - Shut up and let me take pictures of it.

As previously stated, my webcam sucks & I didn't feel like waiting until I get my new scanner that has that smartdrive (or whatever it's called) that lets me load pictures directly from my camera to my computer, so these will have to do.

I thought it was an interesting juxtaposition to take pics of Evan with his Bruce Lee shirt on right next to a World Peace Box, LOL.

Needless to say, it looks much better in person! You can get your own too. :-)

Changed it!

As you can see, I've changed the appearance of my blog to get into the whole winter season.

Whatever.

I finally figured out how to keep my background fixed and only the part you actually read scrolls. Yay! But I don't know why that white bar appears across the top and I've given up trying to fix it.

**Update 3:08 AM** How retarded is it that I figure this out when most normal people are sleeping??? All I had to do was change one thing. DUH, LOL.

I got the background to stop repeating with help from the JJHF peeps. I had been trying to do a Hugh Laurie background (dur) but I decided that I didn't want newcomers to think this blog was all about Hugh Laurie.

Because it isn't.

Furreal.

I might not keep this that long, LOL!

There were a lot of Christmas related backgrounds that I really liked. But this one is good for winter. :-)

Other Bidness:

Blog of the Week - For the past 2 weeks or whatever, I've been looking for more interesting blogs on the weekend, just haven't found any...

Feedjit - I'm loving that widget! I think it's so interesting to see how people end up here.

That post "Boys II Men has a new CD" gets a lot of random visitors.

Some Delphi people are visiting and NOT COMMENTING. (losers) I assume they're from forums other than JJHF that I visit and post something that makes them wonder "Who the hell is this??". HA!

And I've noticed my Makoto Nagano post gets a visit every week. Odd. But even Mommy Dearest agrees that he's hot. :-)

You can look, ladies, but he's MINE! I have a crush on each continent. They're off limits!!!

That is all.

**Warning**

Ok, I watch a show every week.

This week they showed people's reactions to some really disgusting video.

Of course I had to see what was so disgusting.

DON'T DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!

Resist the urge to see it, whatever the urge is. Even if it's worse than feening for crack.

I don't know whether to vomit or just rip my eyes out.

I'm not even going to tell you how to find it.

OMG.

If I ever sleep again I'm going to have nightmares.

DO NOT WATCH THIS VIDEO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Boys II Men has a new CD

I found out because Evan & I had gone to Wal-Mart earlier in the day so he would stop bugging me because the money he got from Mommy Dearest (for helping her move her refrigerator so that she could mop under it) was burning a whole in his pocket.

While we were there, he saw some of those wheeled sneakers that he's always wanted so when we got home I called her and told her that's what she can get him for X-mas.

So, because the good stuff disappears from WM almost instantly, she decided we needed to go back right away.

Then I was helping her find some cd by some gospel artist and she remembered that she'd seen Boys II Men on Regis & Kelley this morning and she wanted their new CD.

We got home at 9 pm. I had to burn her a copy of the CD so she can have one in the house and one in the car.

I've only listened to 2 tracks so far.

I LOVE the new version of End of the Road. I'd rather hear the original War than their version.

I'll listen to the rest of the songs now & tell you what I think.

Got to be there - No. LOL. I don't generally like slow songs. It's sung well enough but I won't be listening to it again.

Ain't nothing like the real thing - I like the original better. OMG. Patti Labelle? No.

Ribbon In The Sky - I'd rather hear Stevie Wonder sing this song. The a capella is nice, *sigh*, I guess I just like the original oldies better. At least so far I do.

All This Love
- It's only ok. I mean, they aren't El Debarge, but this is an ok elevator version of the song.

I was made to love her - Who did this originally? Stevie Wonder? This is aight.

Easy - I'd rather hear Lionel Richie. But this isn't bad.

Money (That's What I Want) - I guess it's ok because I'm not comparing it to the original. That might have something to do with the fact that I don't remember who did the original...

The Tracks Of My Tears - Smokey Robinson. I'm just wondering now why they did this CD. Did they really think they could do it better than people like Smokey Robinson & Stevie Wonder or did they just want an excuse to go on tour and make some money again? This isn't bad. But...you know the rest of that statement.

Mercy Mercy Me - Was this Marvin Gaye? That's who it reminds me of. It's ok. I like this one.

It's the Same Old Song/Reach Out I'll Be There - Well, if they have to do remakes, these are the type they should do. It's hard to feature 3 singers on songs that were meant for one singer. Old School Boy Band songs are great for them. This is good.

Just My Imagination (Running Away With Me) There's also an acoustic version of this song that I downloaded from Wal-mart.com. I like this version better than the acoustic. It's decent.

That's it. Basically, I'd recommend you go and get some "Greatest R&B Hits" CDs before you buy this. But if you LOVE B2M, you might like it.

It's only ok. I won't be listening to it specifically. I'll put it on my other R&B playlist. It might be better if I "reviewed" this after I get in the mood for that genre and then tell you how many times I skipped a song.

As it stands, I haven't listened to any of the new ones all the way through. I like old Boys II Men tracks.

Bottom line: Borrow this from someone else and rip a copy.

3. Do you ever wish you were a different age than you are now? Why? Always. I'd like to be over 43 because that would make Evan over 20 and I wouldn't worry about how he's going to turn out because I'd already know.

4. Do you deliberately behave or dress a certain way to appear or feel younger than you are? How about older? No. I dress the way I dress because it's easy. :-)

5. What is your *real* age? 35

The Rock is separated!!

*gasp*

He's on the market. Maybe while Hugh Laurie is on hiatus due to the flipping writer's strike, Dwayne and I can rekindle our previous romance.

Thursday 11/15/07

3x Thursday

1. Would you describe yourself as impatient? Why/why not? Absolutely. I would describe myself that way because it's true.

2. In general, do you think you're a good worker? Why/why not? What are your strengths? I'm an awesome worker. I do my job to the best of my abilities which is, if I do say so myself, better than a lot of people's best. My strengths are strong organizational skills and perfectionism. I don't stop until it's perfect TO ME. I found that any employer I had had lower expectations for whatever it was than I did, LOL.

3. Do you think you're a good person? Why/why not? I have the ability to be a good person. LMAO! I've almost gotten over the guilt that I feel when I'm not "good". That's going to be my New Year's resolution...not feeling guilty when I cut some slow motherfucker off in traffic. ;-)

Thursday Thirteen

13 Strange Celebrity "Attractions"
If you've read this blog AT ALL in the past 12 months, you realize that I always have a celebrity crush. Some last longer than others. Some are more intense than others (Hugh Laurie is my current imaginary BF). And then there are some that I can't even explain myself. Sometimes it freaks me out, LOL. I become obsessed with finding out WHY I'm attracted to that particular person. Sometimes I never figure it out. These aren't exactly "crushes", though. I'm just attracted to them and they don't fit my usual "type".

1. Steven Tyler of Aerosmith - It's strange because he's so freaking skinny. And ugly. And he looks like he stinks.

2. Gerard Butler - It's strange because I don't think he's attractive. But when he played Attila he was incredibly sexy to me.

3. Joaquin Phoenix - Definitely not attractive to me. But he was sexy in Walk the Line.

4. Drew Carey - I don't know. Something about his big black nerdy glasses was cute to me, LOL. I always felt like he'd be fun to hang out with.

5. Ron Rifkin - Better known as Arvin Sloan on Alias. The short little effer was EVIL. But also kind of cute. :-)

6. Katt Williams - Short little Prince look alike. You might know him as Money Mike from Friday After Next. His voice is SO irritating. But he's funny as hell.

7. Mike Rowe - Dirty Jobs guy. It's not strange that I had a crush on him (back when he worked at QVC). He is "my type". But he looks like a Shar Pei.

8. Judi Dench - She's a woman.

9. David Letterman - Poor dude is...unfortunate looking, LOL! But I've been attracted to him since my early teens.

10. Ice Cube - Now he's HOTT! It's strange because he looks like my brother. Which is kind of gross when I think about it.

11. Andre 3000 - Good looking man. But he dresses so CRAZY and any time I've seen him in an interview I get the impression that he's a space cadet. I don't normally like stupid or spacey...

12. Gordon Ramsay - What???!!?!?!? OMG. I find myself searching for his name on the DVR (after looking for Hugh Laurie & Clint Eastwood) because I just feel an intense sexual attraction for him. And he's not handsome. And it pisses me off that I can like anyone that other women get moist over, LOL. WHAT is he DOING to us American women??

13. The Green Lantern - There was one series of some cartoon show...let me think...The Legion of Superheroes? I don't remember. But The Green Lantern was a black guy and I always thought that if he was a real man and not a cartoon he'd be fine as hell. It's strange because he's a geedee cartoon...

Wednesday Memeage

Daily 3

Well it's almost 3:30 pm and there are no new questions, so I'm going to use a previous entry.

1. Name three occupations you would never consider. What factors contribute to this opinion? Sanitation Engineer, Oncologist, and teacher. The funk, the crying, the noise.

2. What are three ideal occupations? What factors contribute to this opinion? Writer, Reader & Website Designer. I like to write, I like to read & I like creating crap, LOL.

3. Name three great jobs you've held and three of the worst (if you haven't had six or more jobs in your lifetime, just give us one of each.) What factors made them good or bad? Cashier at Hardees & Executive Assistant. I hated Hardees because people....I don't like people. I LOVED being an Executive Assistant because my boss was AWESOME and I got a lot of free crap. :-)

It is Wednesday, right? No Loaded Questions either. *Sigh*

Wednesday Mind Hump

5 things in my refrigerator right now:
1. Sodas that I'm not going to drink.
2. Garlic stuffed olives
3. Marinating short ribs

Feedjit

It's great to know how maybe people are visiting your blog, but I find it more interesting to know how they got here and/or where they came from.

So I installed the Feedjit Live Traffic Feed thingee on my sidebar.

I had no idea that so many people were getting to my blog from Google Search.

I thought all my visitors were from Memes or whenever I have a battle on BlogExplosion.

Feedjit is useful too because it shows your most popular pages of the day.

Cool. I'm glad I bit off some random blog I saw and installed it, LOL.

Since doing today's 10 on Tuesday

I've been listening to my 80s playlist.

The song "You spin me right round" by Dead or Alive is just INSANE. The vocals.

I can't believe I never paid attention to that before.

Apparently, the lead singer was on the British version of Big Brother. He sang along with his record. He does not look like he's having fun.

Blog of the Week - Mamalicio.us

The blog of the week this week is Mamalicio.us.

She hasn't put anything in her profile so I don't know her age or whatever. All I know is that she's a single mom, she sounds young, and she's currently living with her family.

This is NOT a blog that will make you feel lighthearted.

Her posts just speak to me. I feel like I've been there. I ache for her. It can be extremely hard being a single mother. I think some of us feel it more than others.

When I was a teenager and dreamt about having a baby, there was never a man there. Once (probably after I saw Titanic) I had a dream that me, my husband and our baby boy were on a big boat/ship/whatever and it started sinking. My husband told me to take the baby and get on one of those little ships...life boat? So we did. He ended up dying.

So even in my dreams there's never been a man here to be a part of my son's life, LOL.

Honestly, a man giving his $.02 in regards to how I raise my son would just piss me off and stress me out more than it would help me.

I'm lucky enough to have an awesome son with whom family members want to spend time. It gives me a break when I'm ready to pull my hair out.

Mamalicio.us needs someone like that in her life. She needs a BFF that she can call at 3 am and cry and talk to. I feel like more of her angst is about having to live with her family than having to raise a child on her own. I totally understand how toxic "family" can be.

So go by her blog, show her some love, buy her a car so she can move out, LOL.

Ten of Tina's Twosomes

Ten on Tuesday

10 songs that bring back memories and why.

1. Make it Happen - Mariah Carey When this song first came out, I think I was still in HS. Still living with Mommy Dearest. Still suicidal, IOW. The lyrics "I often cried myself to sleep, but still I had to keep on going. Never knowing if I could take it, if I would make it through the night. I held onto my faith. I struggled and I prayed. And now, I've found my way." gave me hope that maybe one day everything wouldn't look so bleak. Now it doesn't. :-)

2. Voices Carry - Til Tuesday No idea, LOL. I probably don't have specific memories about most of the songs that take me back, I just remember liking them...

3. Kiss - Prince When this song first came out, I was still a serious Prince junkie. EVERY SINGLE ONE of my friends had heard it on the radio or seen the video and I hadn't. I was camped out in my room with a blank tape ready to record as soon as the DJ said anything about Prince, LOL. Even Mommy Dearest heard it before I did!

4. Sledgehammer - Peter Gabriel That video was so "fresh". I still have the song on my i-tunes.

5. Pour some sugar on me - Def Leppard I just remember having a MAJOR CRUSH on some boy in HS (the boy who told me he didn't like me, but that his black friend did) and him talking about some girl in the video.

6. Karma Chameleon - Culture Club Culture Club was the first non-Prince album I bought with my allowance.

7. Seventeen - Winger I had SUCH a big crush on Kip Winger (is that his name?) he looked like a lion to me.

8. Oh Sherry - Journey I just remember singing the song over and over.

9. Let's Dance - David Bowie He is responsible for me not being able to pronounce Bowie (boo-wee) correctly when I moved there, LOL.

10. I feel for you - Chaka Khan I think this is the first time I'd ever heard that anyone other than Prince had done a Prince song. You'll notice that I have links to all the youtube videos. Except for Prince. Because he's an ass. :-)

Tina's Tuesdays
Topic: Pamper Yourself

1. Have you ever had a manicure or pedicure? I've had fake nails, never had a manicure, per se, because I don't like people touching me. LMAO!

2. If so, how was your experience? N/A

3. Do you get them regularly or is it just for special occasions? No.

Tuesday Twosome - Character

1. Is your role model someone famous or not? Who is your role model? I don't think I have a role model.

2. Which is more important to you: Actions or words? Actions. Most people that I've encountered say what they think you want to hear. Very few actually follow through.

3. Do you forgive easily or hold a grudge? Depends on what it is. If it's serious, I'll hold a grudge. If you stepped on my toe or something, I can get over it, LOL.

4. What is the last lie you told? What is the last lie someone told you? I don't really lie. I don't give a shit what people think about me so I feel like I can be honest. I don't hurt people's feelings, but if they keep asking I'll say "Don't ask me if you don't want to know the truth" and then I'll try to tell them in a diplomatic way. I've already told Evan not to ask me what I think about his girlfriends (future girlfriends) unless he really wants to know. I'll keep my opinions to myself unless asked. How would I know what lie someone's told me?

5. Would you rather be with someone for the wrong reason or alone for the right reason? Alone for the right reason, obviously.

Whatever, I'm tired of waiting

Now I don't know if I want that other one, LOL.

I'm bored.

I have another girl crush

On Nigella Lawson.

You may have seen her on one of her various cooking shows (Nigella Bites, Nigella Feasts, Nigella Express). I've been watching them for years. She's also been on various talk shows in America (Regis & Kelly, Tonight Show with Jay Leno).

I watched the first show on Food Network because here was finally a woman who had a real woman's figure. She's a perfect hourglass. Most of her recipes were given in metric? I didn't care enough about the food to figure out the conversions, LOL. And she gave the temperature for the oven in celsius? (I'm guessing, I don't know which is which.) So I never cooked food, by the recipe, from her show. But I did get a lot of ideas about things I could try in my own kitchen.

My favorite part of the show was always at the end when it's allegedly night time and she goes into the kitchen to sneak some cold left overs.

So I watched even though she uses a lot of curry & peas (two of my least favorite ingredients). She's so enchanting!

She's got this demure facade. But I think underneath she's a real firecracker!

There was some comedian who said that people watch The Food Network because it's almost like porn, LOL.

Nigella Lawson is one of those people responsible for that impression. When you watch one of her shows, you get the impression that cooking isn't just a job for her. She really loves food. You have to watch the show. Right now it's Nigella Express. It comes on Sundays at 10:30 am EST.

After you watch an episode, come back and tell me if she isn't the sexiest woman on The Food Network.

I'd totally go bisexual for her, LOL. (I couldn't completely give up men...)

OOOOOHH! Threesome with Nigella and Hugh. I have something to take care of. TTYL!

Mommy Dearest came over today

I was taking a nap. It never fails. She either comes over or calls when I'm taking a geedee nap. I should call her up at 3 am just to talk so she'll know how it feels.

She took Evan to her house to help her take down the Halloween decorations and some other crap she doesn't feel safe doing when she's alone. She needs to get one of those things old people wear around their necks for when they've fallen & can't get up. So do I, come to think of it, LOL.

Of course I couldn't get back to sleep. When they came back, I was playing a game at Neopets.

So when I got up for her to watch her beloved Al Green on youtube, I decided to give Jeeves & Wooster another try.

She - Every time I come over here you're watching some British show. I'm going to send you to England to live.
Me - I wouldn't live there if it was free & I lived in a mansion.
She - Why not?
Me - *Earnestly* Because I love America.

That is all. I'm was just tired of taking those quizzes at blogthings and decided to blog. :-)

Blogthings Quizzes

You Should Be a Manager

You're very organized, motivated, and methodical.
Fair and objective, you can see all sides of a conflict. You are a good mediator.
You are task oriented. You do well with deadlines and schedules.
And while you can be a task master at times, you're good at managing people and listening to their input.

You do best when you:

- Must have attention to detail
- Are in charge of people

You would also be a good accountant or personal assistant.

You and Your Mom Are Completely Different

At times, it seems like you and your mom aren't even related.
You often wonder how two people from the same family can be so different.
As the saying goes... you can pick your friends, but not your relatives.

Your Interpersonal Intelligence Score: 43%

Your Interpersonal Intelligence is Average

You do well in most group settings, but you also need time to recharge.
So while you can work with people during the day, you may crave your alone time at night.
For you, it's all about balance!

You Are Not a Dumb American

You got 7/10 correct.
You know a good deal about American history, but there's some basic facts you have wrong.
Time to go back to history class!
Fuck that! I always hated history.

You Scored an A

You got 10/10 questions correct.

It's pretty obvious that you don't make basic grammatical errors.
If anything, you're annoyed when people make simple mistakes on their blogs.
As far as people with bad grammar go, you know they're only human.
And it's humanity and its current condition that truly disturb you sometimes.

You Know Your States

You got 7/10 correct.

You've got a pretty good handle on US geography.
There's a good chance you've visited at least a dozen of the fifty states.

What Your Pizza Reveals

People may tell you that you have a small appetite... but you aren't under eating. You just aren't a pig.

You consider pizza to be bread... very good bread. You fit in best in the Midwest part of the US.

You like food that's traditional and well crafted. You aren't impressed with "gourmet" foods.

You are generous, outgoing, and considerate with your choices.

You are cultured and intellectual. You should consider traveling to Vienna.

The stereotype that best fits you is emo. You think you're special... and you kind of are.
Who makes this shit up?

You Are Not Prejudiced

Not only are you color blind, but you're also ethnicity blind, gender blind, and sexual orientation blind.
You don't judge someone until you truly know them. And even then, you're probably reluctant to judge.
You try to treat everyone equally. Everyone has a fair chance with you.
Good job - there's not a prejudiced bone in your body.

There's a Chance You Could Be Violent

Overall, you're a pretty chill person - and you have a good handle on your emotions.
Sometimes your anger gets the best of you, and end up regretting how you act.
Try to curb your temper more often. It only has to get out of control once to do some damage.
FUCK THAT! I'm not controlling shit! Suffer my wrath! Muuuuuuuuhahahahahahaha

Your PMS Disaster Level: High

You are definitely a PMS disaster!
At least you're only scary a few days of the month.
LMFAO! Poor Evan, LOL!!!

You Are a Moderate Mama

You're not overly political, and your views fall more with the American mainstream.
In fact, it may be difficult for you to decide who to vote for at times!
Your approach to politics is reasoned and well though out.

You Are a Little Anal Retentive

Okay, so you're occasionally uptight, but it's not like you fill your day with little OCD rituals.
You just like to exercise a little control over your life, and that's usually a good thing.
As long as you limit your anal retentive ways to your own behavior, you're not annoying anyone.
Deep down, most people are exactly like you.

You Are Cereal

Playful and lighthearted, breakfast is likely your favorite meal of the day.
(In fact, you're probably the type who sneaks cereal as a midnight snack.)
Your culinary skills are probably a bit lacking... and you are a sucker for junk food.
Some people accuse you of eating like a kid, but you prefer to think of yourself as low maintenance.
One of the best things about being an adult, IMO, is that I can eat cereal all day every day if I want to. I don't have to sneak. I'm the mom!!! I AM an awesome cook. Sometimes I just don't feel like it, LOL.

Which do you like better?

I frequently change my blog design. So now I'm giving you the chance to have some input. Keep in mind, I'm still going to change it, LOL, but if you HATE the other choice I might try to find something less offensive. :-)

1. They say elephants never forget. Would you compare your memory to that of an elephant or gnat? These days, a gnat.

2. What kinds of things do you find it easy to remember? My name, phone number, address...

3. What kinds of things do you find it difficult to remember? Everything else, LOL. Sometimes I remember to make a grocery list, but then I forget to take it with me OR (my favorite) I forget to take it out of my purse.

4. How does your short-term memory compare to your long-term memory? I no longer have the short term memory to make new memories that turn into old memories. It's crazy.

5. How do you commit things to memory? Do you use tricks, songs, images, word associations, or other little mnemonics?
If it's a name, I try to repeat it in my head a few times. If I'm listening to a song or TV show the first time I hear whatever it is, I'm more likely to remember.

Friday Fiver

1. Who do you owe? Freaking Mommy Dearest. I don't have dental insurance and she loaned me the money to get a root canal and that thing that they put on your tooth afterwards. Crown?

2. What do you wait for? MONDAYS when The Boy goes back to school for another 5 days, LOL.

3. What do you disguise? My pain.

4. Tell us a lie:I had a threesome with The Rock & Julian McMahon last night. Dwayne is very emotional. He cried afterwards.

5. Friday fill-in:
I can't get enough of
those dark chocolate pomegranate filled candies.

FOUR FOR FRIDAY

Q1 - Judged by a Supreme Being: If their objective were to judge us, what would the three worst places be for extraterrestrials to land in the U.S. and observe Americans? Los Angeles/Hollywood. Las Vegas. New Orleans.

Q2 - Changing it Up: After checking into a hotel, have you ever been so disappointed with your accommodations that you asked to be moved to another room? If so, what were the circumstances that led to the request?
Yes. There was mildew in the shower and the whole room made me itch. We actually left. This was in NY city.

Q3 - Wedding Bands: Do you have a system for when you do and do not wear your wedding band/ring? For instance, do you wear yours 24/7/365, remove at night or when participating in strenuous activities, etc.? If you are not married and you wear jewelry on a regular basis, what system do you employ? I'm not married and the only jewelry I wear on a regular basis are my magnet bracelets because they really do work! I feel much less back & knee pain when I have them on. I wear them 24/7. Other jewelry I wear if I'm going some place other than Wal-mart.

Q4 - ???: What's your reaction to this? LMFAO!!!!

Jeff Dunham

He's an awesome ventriloquist. Every time I see him on Comedy Central, I watch. Even though I've seen it a dozen times before.

I love Peanut!!! :-)
