TV Shows

Watched Nip/Tuck's season premier last night. I don't really have anything to say about it, LOL. But then there wasn't any gross surgery. Jennifer Coolidge was funny. She always is, though.

House was good (dur). I loved it when House & Cuddy went into the room with the patient who had Mirror Syndrome. Apparently, when a patient has that, he imitates the "Alpha" in the room. So House is the Alpha. We already knew that. But now everybody else knows it too, LOL.

The Unit had that girl Mikayla (or whatever) from American Idol on as a "diva". At one point when she's supposedly singing live, the song said one thing & her mouth started to say another. Maybe her mouth actually completed the wrong word. I just can't believe they left that in there. Really bad editing. I never did like that girl. I wonder if it was type casting? And I hate that she stole that dude's poem and made it into a song and he got NO CREDIT. He can't sue. That sucks so bad. And it looks like he's going to die next week. :-(

I've continued to watch Salt N Pepa. They are SO opposite I can't believe they were ever friends. I'm sure that Cheryl (Salt) had changed a lot, but damn. It's also interesting that she says that Pep never listens but she's the one who talks so damned fast that Pep can't get a word in edgewise. Pep has always reminded me of my SIL. They have a lot of similarities. And I'm sure she'd be thrilled to know I think that, LOL. WTFever.

Have you noticed how many people get into the music business and then after a while they get really religious? I suppose that's better than Rehab. Prince & Vanity spring to mind immediately. I think she became a preacher or something. Crazy!

That's it, I'm thoo.

Whatever

Earlier this week, I ordered my birthday present from Mommy Dearest (Jeeves & Wooster), Lego Star Wars & Apocalypto.

Tuesday I think.

Today we got Star Wars. Nothing else. :-(

Anyway, Evan finished THE WHOLE GAME. It only took him a couple of hours.

I think this Star Wars game is harder than SW: The Original Trilogy.

There are some things I like about it. Like Yoda has a "hoverround" in this one so he's not so freaking slow. JarJar Binks & some other characters have a super high jump (which would be useful in the other game).

But I don't like anything else about it.

It's extremely hard to get TJS (True Jedi Status) because there just aren't that many studs & there's no x2,x4,x8,x10 extra, so no shortcuts to getting TJS. And all of the levels are sooooooooo loooooooooooooong.

I won't be playing that one as much as I play SW:TOT.

I can't wait for Jeeves & Wooster. WTF???? The other things I ordered were shipped before Star Wars, but I'll probably get them Monday.

Anyway, I just watched Moonlight Episode 104 online. Last week, the DVR recorded The Dog Whisperer instead of Moonlight. Which is stupid, because TDW comes on multiple times on Friday night & Moonlight only comes on once.

Whatever. I have rectified the situation.

I think I'm going to play some Star Wars now that The Boy is asleep.

He drives me crazy when we play together. He just wants to shoot crap. I want to get all the mini kits and True Jedi Status.

Which is why I end up playing when he's in bed or at school.

That is all.

Friday Memes

Five on Friday

Would you rather...

1: eat nothing but chocolate or go without chocolate for the rest of your life? Go without chocolate. Even something good gets old after a while.

2: stub your toe or get a paper cut? Get a paper cut.

3: write the news or make the news? Write the news. I can't imagine what good I would do to make the news, LOL.

4: lose 10 pounds or gain 10 IQ points? Gain 10 IQ points. I don't think you can ever be too smart.

5: wear a costume to work or wear normal clothes to a Halloween party? Wear normal clothes to a Halloween party.

FOUR FOR FRIDAY - THE 'OTHER PEOPLE'S QUESTIONS' EDITION

Q1 - Jerry Chrisman Asks: What is one of your favorite words? Fuck.

Q2 - Steve Lindhorst Asks: How do react when you are out in public and approached by someone carrying a clipboard asking for your signature on a petition or requesting that you participate in a survey? I listen to what the petition or survey is for. As long as they aren't trying to sell me anything, I'll give them a couple of minutes.

Q3 - Jake Sabey Asks: I have a friend that I have never seen wear blue jeans, a friend who claims to never have tried Ketchup, and yet another friend who cannot help but say "Bless You" immediately upon hearing someone--anyone--sneeze. What do your friends or peers know you for?
I have no idea. And I don't think I care...

Q4 - Katie Hanks Asks: Have you ever met anyone famous? If so who and where? No.

Friday Fiver

1. What is sweet? Sugar.

2. What hours do you work? I try to avoid work at all hours. Avoiding work is my job.

3. When do you relax? When I'm alone.

4. How did you learn about the birds and the bees? Probably when I read my first romance book (which I DO NOT do anymore and think should be rated R so that no one under 17 can read that bullshit.)

The Alternative Friday Five *See, personality/background really influences how I "read" a sentence, LOL. I was thinking "Alternative to the regular Friday Five" but I think they meant alternative as it relates to sexuality. Whatever*

1. What do people tend to assume about you, because it's the perceived cultural norm, that isn't true (e.g. sexual orientation, gender, religion)? What is the reality? That I'm a democrat. That I like shopping. That I go to those black churches that you see on TV where the preacher is screaming and the choir is awesome. The reality is that I vote for the best candidate regardless of their party. I hate shopping. When I do go to church (rarely) I prefer the ones that only last an hour and no one is screaming or doing the "Holy Ghost Dance".

2. Which of those things are you "out" about (i.e., which ones do you tend to choose to explicitly reveal or clarify)? Why? Shopping. Because I really hate shopping & I hate that I get grouped in with all the chicks who really like doing all that girly crap.

3. Which of those things are you not "out" about? Why? My political stance. It's hard being black & not being a democrat. Or liberal. In my family, anyway.

4. Does your level of "outness" vary between social situations (e.g. work, family, friends)? If yes, what are the differences? Yes. I really don't tell my relatives anything about myself, LOL. Strangers know me better. BECAUSE, when I was growing up, the people who were supposed to love me most no matter what would use whatever I said to hurt me. I learned to keep my opinions to myself around them.

5. How would you define "coming out"? Finally not giving a shit what others would think/do/say & saying how I really feel.

Plastic Surgery

I have problems with it.

The main one being that I think it's unfair that ugly ass beeyotches can pay someone to try to look as good as other people do naturally.

Like me.

But anyway.

I think it's false/fake and totally teaches women/girls the wrong thing. The thing being: that appearance is more important than personality.

I'm all for raising your self esteem.

Read a fucking book.

Get a degree.

Do an awesome job at whatever you do.

If you clean toilets, clean them so that Adrian Monk can eat off of the seat. If you're a CEO or a doctor, what difference does it make how your nose is shaped?

Self esteem is defined as follows: a realistic respect for or favorable impression of oneself; self-respect.

I have self esteem because I know I'm intelligent. I know I can do a lot of things well. My opinion of myself has nothing to do with how I look.

That being said, I know I have a problem with empathy, or putting myself in another's shoes.

I can understand if you've been in a major car accident that changed your looks drastically and you just want to get back to something resembling "normal". What I don't understand is wanting to look like someone else.

I've been watching The Salt n Pepa show on VH1.

Pep looks like she's had a nose job.

This infuriates me!

I don't know how old she is, but she's got to be close to 40. She's been living with her God given nose for decades & now it's not good enough??? If she was going to get a nose job, why not do it 15 years ago? Why now?

She looks like fucking Michael Jackson.

What was wrong with the old nose, Sandy?

*Update* I finally found a "new nose" picture. See??? Was that really necessary?

I couldn't get good high resolution pictures for comparison, but if you watch the show & then compare how she looked last year (or whenever) on "Surreal Life", you'll notice.

WTF???

It irritates me more that this is a black woman getting plastic surgery. She had a perfectly fine black person nose. Now it's like she's trying to look like every other plastic bimbo with a nose job.

WHY?????

Why do women get volleyballs implanted into their chests? Why do people (male & female) get butt implants?

Why can't people just work with what they have? Be the best them that they can be?

I hear all the explanations excuses that they give. "My clothes fit better with bigger boobs." or "I had a deviated septum."

Bullshit.

I'm all for plastic surgery for accident victims or people born with a cleft palate or whatever, but this elective plastic surgery to change your functional nose to something that you, with your twisted & brainwashed mind, think would be more acceptable to the masses pisses me the fuck off.

*End Rant*

Salt looks great! She as cute as she ever was.

And aging gracefully, without plastic surgery, is Diahann Carroll.

Can you believe she's 72??? I hope I look half that good next year, let alone 40 years from now!

Yay for women who just take care of themselves & don't pay someone to mutilate them!

Another reason to love YouTube

I was listening to my 80s playlist on i-tunes. "Girls, Girls, Girls" by Motley Crue came on. So I looked for it on youtube.

It was there.

I used to have such a crush on Nikki Sixx. :-)

And then I started looking for other videos I remember watching back then.

New Kids on the Block

Shut up. I was a teenager then. I didn't have a crush on any one in particular, I was ashamed that I liked some of their songs back then. I would never have admitted to liking NKOTB. I was Prince or Rock music back then. Allegedly...

I did remember enjoying watching Jordan Knight dance.

And I STILL love "Give it to you" by him. The song. I don't give a crap about the video. He looks so cheesy in it.

This last one is from 1990, the year I graduated from HS. It's my theme song.

Jane Child

I still have her first album on cassette. I wonder if it's on CD or if they just didn't bother? LOL. I don't think I've heard of anything from her since the first album...

Ok, I have to go watch Robot Chicken and whatever else I recorded tonight.

Today - 10/21/07

I felt like crap.

But anyway.

We went to Mommy Dearest's to do some laundry instead of the laundromat.

My Grandmother came over. She's going deaf, apparently, but refuses to get a hearing aid.

E - Your dog got out of the fence.
GMa - Your stomach hurts? What's wrong.

We (my mother, Evan and I) all cracked up for about 10 minutes. She just said it so fast! OMG. I'm laughing again just thinking about it.

Entyway, she then said that she heard people can watch you through your TV.

I am seriously concerned that she's in the early stages of Alzheimer's. She'll ask a question and then 5 minutes later ask the same thing. I've told my mother she need to take her to the doctor and have her tested. All of her kids have noticed this, but no one wants to say anything to her. If it IS Alzheimer's, the longer they wait for her to get treatment, the worse it will be, right?

I don't remember what else happened today.

I have to go watch the reruns of "So you think you can dance" that I taped today. I know Benji won that season, but some of the routines were great and I want to see them again.

Ta!

The last few days

Have been hellish.

I've been nauseous for days.

Every once in a while I FEEL like someone hit me in the back with a bat. It HUUUUUUUUUUURTS. I can't move or breathe for a few seconds. The act of inhaling mulitiplies the pain.

It doesn't make any sense.

I mean, if it happened when I bent over, I wouldn't bend over. If it happened when I sit "Indian Style", I wouldn't do that.

But no.

It's totally random & makes me afraid to move.

AND I DON'T KNOW WHY IT'S HAPPENING!

Anyway, last night I took a sleeping pill & 25 mg of Melatonin at 10 pm.

At 2 am I took 25 more mg of Melatonin.

It's 3 PM on THE NEXT FUCKING DAY and I still haven't slept.

WTF?

I'm in such a bad mood.

I'll probably get sleepy at 5 pm, when Evan is home making noise, and then I won't be able to sleep

OR

The boy will decide to be quiet and I'll fall asleep and wake up at 9 pm with a massive headache and then be up all night again.

*sigh*

I hate insomnia.

This can't be good for my health. Seriously.

I used to be able to go grocery shopping or whatever while Evan was at school, but these days I'm afraid I'm too sleep deprived to drive without killing myself of someone else, so I'm stuck in the house.

Which would be fine if I felt like it was a choice. But I don't feel like it is, so it's like house arrest.

The only thing that would be worse -

Nevermind. If I say that it might happen.

I want a chimichanga.

That is all.

Friday Memes

Five on Friday: Jingle All the Way

1. Do you ever find yourself singing advertising jingles? Out loud? No. I find them stuck in my head.

2. What are your favorite jingles? Blue by the Froot of the Loom Guys.

3. Which jingles do you hate to hear? Any of those check cashing commercials. I don't see a lot of commercials anymore. I stop ffwding for Sonic commercials or "Blue", but that's it.

4. Why do you think jingles are so effective?
Because they get into your head. You find yourself having some crazy jingle in your head and half the time you don't even know what the product is.

5. Are jingles going the way of the dinosaur? Or do you think we're going to be singing them for the next 50 years?
Maybe the way this crap gets into our heads will change, but they will never stop advertising.

Friday Fiver

1. What makes you feel exposed? Nudity.

2. What do you have to force yourself to do?
Clean the house.

3. Where do you like to spend your time outdoors? Inside.

4. What surprises you? When I'm nice.

5. Friday fill-in:
Late at night I'm wishing I would go to sleep already!!!

Today in English...

So Evan gets home:

E- Today in English we were doing a sentence. The subject pronoun was "you" and the helping verb was "do". We always say the verb first. We had to draw a line between "Do" and "You". I thought that was inappropriate.

HA!

1 2 3 4

The song gets in your head through commercials, then you see the oddness of the video and end up watching the whole thing.

I hate shit like that, LOL.

I've watched a couple more videos from Feist. I like her style.

2. Do you prefer brightly lit rooms or dim spaces? Dim. Mommy Dearest calls me a vampire.

3. What's the weather like today?
No idea.

4. Is it easy to be you? No. I think the physical challenges I deal with day to day would send weaker people into a deep depression.

5. Friday fill-in: My heaven is 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep.

Monday Memes

Manic Monday

Which month of the year do you think best describes your personality? October. Of all the holidays, Halloween is my favorite. I get to dress up like a hag & get free candy. What's not to like?

If you could have had the starring role in an existing movie, which movie would you pick? I wouldn't want to be an actor. But if I had to be in a movie...Tomb Raider or something where the heroine kicks ass.

Are you attracted to people whose personalities are very similar to your personaltiy or very different?
VERY different. I prefer being around people who talk a lot so that I don't have to say much.

Monday's a Bitch

1. What's your favourite tv talk show?
David Letterman. He cracks me up & I love the way he kind of sticks it to guests.

2. Do you like crackers in your soup? No. Ew.

3. How much does money motivate you? Not much at all.

4. Do you have a garden? (For bonus points: Is it a secret? :P) Not anymore. :-(

5. Do you enjoy the traditional Thanksgiving dinner (turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, etc.)? Does your family have any other food-related traditions for this season? I like the food. I don't like the family, LOL.

Apocalypto

Watched this last night (this morning).

It started kind of slow. It was funny right off the bat, so I was willing to stick with it even though I had to read subtitles, LOL.

For the first hour I kept thinking "Why are they doing that? What is the point of this? Did I fall asleep and miss some exposition????"

The second half of the movie KICKS ASS!

I know this movie came out a long time ago, but as previously stated (multiple times), I don't enjoy foreign films. I don't like having to read the subtitles, and different cultures (Japanese, for example) just believe different things. Different things scare them or move them emotionally.

But this was Mel Gibson.

Braveheart also kicked ass.

So I finally got it last night.

(I also got Bug - Piece of shit. Don't rent it. Marsh - It was aight. Soooo much better than Bug. But it made me jump once, so it gets the "ok" from me. & The Night Listener - Haven't watched it yet.)

It was so good that I didn't even get all the way through it before I started rewinding to watch the action over again. I stayed up, willingly, until 8 am watching parts over again. Then when I finished it, I watched certain scenes again.

I'll probably buy it.

By the end of this movie, Jaguar's Paw was looking kind of sexy to me, that's how good it is. Because when the movie first started, I thought all the men were ugly. I didn't even care that they were in loincloths I thought they were so ugly.

If you haven't seen this movie, rent it NOW. If you have, watch it again.

Read Russ' review of Apocalypto.

U Comment I follow

I've seen these buttons on different blogs, so I followed one.

I don't know anything about CSS or whatever language Blogger uses to set up my blog. I just know it's easy. I type and click "publish post". That's it.

When someone I don't know comments, I usually go to their blog anyway to see if it's something I'd like to read regularly.

BTW, most of the "blogging friends" I made when I started blogging got lazy around the time that I did so they rarely post anymore (Cynic, Sue...) so I need something new to read.

Anyway, if you comment, I'll visit.

I read the stuff at Randa Clay Design. I can't explain it and I have to go to the bathroom anyway, so just click the logo and read it for yourself.

I got to sleep at 9 pm!

I got tired of falling asleep at 7 am.

So I took a some melatonin at 8 pm instead of waiting until 10 pm. I thought I might fall asleep around midnight.

Started getting sleepy immediately.

I watched some crap that I don't even remember now... Survivor & CSI I think.

Woke up about an hour ago, watched Grey's & parts of "Krush Groove" (anyone besides me remember that?) I'm keeping it on DVR until tomorrow so that Evan can see Run before he was Reverend Run & DMC before he started talking the way he does on Celebrity Rap Whateverthefreakingshowiscalled.

I'm out!

Good Cop, Baby Cop

Insomniac nonsense

Yes, I'm up and I do not feel the least bit sleepy.

This has been a bad week. I get to sleep about 7 am, maybe and then I'm awake again at 9 am.

Anyway, why do they talk so fast in old movies?

Is anyone who reads this blog old enough to have lived in the 50's and remember how people spoke back then?

Accents ("non-dialect") accents have changed too. Remember when everyone used to speak like Joan Crawford?

Whatever. I'm listening to some B&W movie called "Titanic" on TCM.

And they all talk fast.

It's crazy.

Or maybe I'm just loopy...
